I've done the same with my thermal 150 yds 1x bolt Rem 700 .308 / HS / Timney Calvin Elite/ 5R
3 hogs in the dark in less than 3 seconds
Please tell me your thermal has recording ability and that you can post the vid of this. I'd love to see it. . I've done it with a Savage 110 in .270, using the headlights to my truck instead of a thermal. I don't doubt cabosandinh I think you misinterpreted my post. I like watching impressive shots and shooting 3 animals at 150 yards in less than 3 seconds with a bolt gun is impressive shooting. I’m not suggesting he didn’t do it. .

For those of us who have only dreamed of firing a Blaser, what is the last press of the bolt handle you refer too? It appears that the savage has some type of ratchet/pivot also in the bolt handle, or are you saying the Blaser has some other feature? Correct technique with the R8 is to close (slam) the bolt forward vigorously when (re)loading. It's not meant to be a finesse process. Discussion on the Blaser forums.

So a 60 degree throw is vastly superior to a 90, but a 0 degree is not better than a 60. The zero degree does not have rotating lugs. Did that escape your understanding? Not at all, but its nice to know you still think I have the metal capacity of a toddler. Well, you provide new examples on a weekly basis. Do you talk to people like this in real life or only on the internet?

My first experience with straight pull was the K31 Swiss and I still have it. Fun to shoot and very accurate. I would try a Savage especially if they south pawed one.

Wonder if the barrel can be changed out like they can now? Left pull right eject to catch brass would be great.

Assuming it will eject without trying to rip the bolt out the back of the gun like their current incarnation.

From the video it still has a barrel nut so I would assume so, but it looks to be a new nut design so a new wrench may be needed.... I took my factory smooth savage barrel nut off with a pipe wrench... so who knows lol. I may sell a gun i dont need to buy another one i dont need

This video is well worth the watch for those seriously considering a purchase of any straight-pull rifle. It offers a good review of the features to look for and why.

Real life. But I don't hang out with a bunch of sissies. yeah I doubt that. What I'm hearing is a person so unhappy with his own life he has to belittle complete strangers behind a screen because he feels inferior. I know some tough dudes; combat soldiers, bikers, John Dutton-Type businessmen....none of them talk like that to other people. The only people who talk to and treat other people like that are the insecure and insignificant.

Perhaps Savage is hedging their bets on what the future looks like. Should we wind up in a situation where characteristics are banned, Savage now has a rifle that is not a semi auto if that were to hit the chopping block, and it's also an alternative since there are very few semi-auto rifles out there in large calibers out there that would not be classified as a "modern sporting rifle".
Not trying to speak heresy here, just opening up an alternative marketing strategy

Friend of mine asked me if I could have two bullets in the air at the same time, before the first one got to the steel at 1000 yards.
I did.
Dang, impressive feat! Ever see Jerry Michulek do a similar trick with a 22? He starts out at like 200 and goes down to 50 yards, each time trying to shoot 3 shots of 22lr before he hears the ring back from the first one. Every try it at shorter distances? The shot is obviously easier but the flight time is much shorter too. Oh, some mentioned a hog hunter who cycles the bolt crazy fast. Don't know the name but he has some show sponsored by aimpoint. It is insane how fast he cycles that thing.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Just for me personally, I don't see the attraction other than something different. We already have straight bolt designs in semiauto rifles that work fine so as far as safety, it should not be an issue.

It is insane how fast he cycles that thing. Jerry is a machine. I always love watching him. The 200 yard .22lr is long range, with quite a flight time. Getting it done at 50 yards is a different ballgame. The Hog hunter is actually an Aimpoint video. And he is really, really good at what he does. For anyone to cycle a bolt action quickly, they have to learn to do it right first, and speed will come later. It is a reason I like starting kiddos on a bolt action .22 lr instead of a Ruger 10/22. If ya gotta cycle it to shoot, you'll learn how to cycle a bolt action. Once you learn how, you'll get faster at it. What forced me to get fast was missing or hitting in high wind, at long range. If the stage allows a second shot, the first one taught me that my wind hold was right, or it was wrong. Whatever be the case, cycle quickly and get another shot off before the wind has time to get stronger or weaker, which would change the wind hold.

Depending on your profession there is often no place for weak [censored] people. My job is nothing like his but we do put our safety in the hands of each other. You have to be able to depend on people. Work hard, play hard, and yes, talk the talk. No room for weak people. I try to not let that bleed over here because I know we have a few sensitive types.
