Who is going to TRY and lose weight?

Monday it will begin. Salads and low carb....minus an occasional beer before bed.

Anyone doing this?

I started about a month ago.

"Intermittent fasting." You can eat whatever you like but you have to create a fast situation for as long a period each day as is possible.
For us, that means we eat some sort of breakfast - can be bacon and eggs or can be just fruit or cereal. Then the big meal is lunch.
Then basically nothing until breakfast. My grandparents ate this way.

It's pretty easy to maintain and it works.

I “fast” everyday, you eventually plateau like with any diet. I wake up around 1-2pm everyday, have usually a boiled egg or 2, then dinner around 630pm, off to work by 9pm, home and in bed by 730am. I very rarely eat after dinner and only consume copious amounts of coffee and water.

you wanna lose weight you need to cut out the bedtime beer.

guy i know would go home and have 3-4 beers every night before bed and wondered why he was blowing up.

Beer isn't gonna help you lose weight in any capacity

Try a 40 day carnivore diet. Strict. No sugar. No beer. Meat and dairy only.

I had to do nights for a couple stints at my old job. I would get done around 5 AM and I would be flat out starving. More so if on regular time if I skipped breakfast and/or lunch. The nights never were consistent, maybe a few days here or there for about a year so maybe that had something to do with it.

From someone who dropped 80lbs since last year, I can tell you losing weight is ALL about calories. Thats all that matter for losing weight. Eat less calories than you burn and youll lose weight. Period. Use an online TDEE calculator to find out your daily calories burned. Then use myfitnesspal to track your daily intake of calories. Thats all it takes.

Now, the second part of that is protein. If you are eating at a calorie deficit you need to up your protein intake so that the majority of weight you lose will be fat with minimal muscle loss. Youll always lose some muscle, but protein helps that number stay small.

All of the fasting stuff and low carb stuff and everything else people use are just different ways to try to eat less calories. You can intermittent Fast all you want but if you eat more calories in your eating window than you burn for the day you will gain weight.

HaHa! I can tell y'all how to lose weight the hard way! Just get radiation for your neck area. Then your saliva glands don't work and you can't eat bread, and you have a hyperactive thyroid which keeps you from gaining weight and aids in it! Then your doctor tells you no more alcohol or else you will be doing this all over again soon. That's how you lose weight the hard way, but it damn sure works!

I plan to do my best to lose weight starting Monday. I quit drinking beer like they are going to quit selling it few days back. Also plan to get in shape. Going to retire in another year and half. Intend to be in good shape for an old guy, I’ve let myself go the last couple of years. Sore back and broke foot didn’t help here recently.

Once I retire I plan go back to Aftican and hunt. I also plan to do something when I retire other than cook bbq and drink beer, although it’s not bad fun.

Thanks, Billy

I'm about 6'2" and have always been 220-240# the entire time I was working. Fast forward 4 years, after retiring and non-stop drinking, and eating anything (and everything) I pleased. Had a blood clot in my leg in late November, while I was hunting out of state. I peaked at 305# last Dec 14th, and my doc wasn't very happy with me, or my test results. I cut out carbs and all sweets and alcohol. Dropped 70# in about 6-8 months. Still eat too well, and too much, but have stayed down. Would like to drop another 20. Going down 6"in waist sure made a wardrobe change necessary!!!

Beer and whiskey, 'cause you can't drink bacon!!

Nathan is right.
Less calories, more exercise = weight loss. There's no short cuts.
