I’ve heard this for years finally gonna try it
Yesterday I started my 2, five gallon bucks of soured corn
Figure I’ll let it sit for 2-3 weeks and dig a hole and bury it
Once deer season ends, it my favorite form of entertainment trying to get a pig or few!
Anybody done this?
Was it worth it?

Never tried it for hogs. I am overrun with them with regular corn that I am feeding deer.
I will offer some advice though that I learned from using soured grain for cat fishing years ago. Don’t step on the lid of the bucket.
I had some really ripe milo that had been fermenting in a five gallon bucket for weeks that I was going to use to attract catfish. I had it sitting in the floor of the boat. When I launched the boat I stepped off the front deck onto the bucket and my foot went right through the top. Never could get that smell out of the shoe I had to throw them away.

Was it worth it? I've done it and imho, it's not worth the effort. Dig a hole, dump some corn in it, and poor a tall boy of the cheapest beer you can buy, cover it lightly with soil, and let 'er rip. I've also done the same thing but instead of cheap beer, I used some really horrible red wine that came in a gallon jug; the piggies loved it.

You can also bury rancid pecans and the pigs will dig as deep as the deepest pecan.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Be careful if there are cattle on the property. The hole the hogs dig can be a leg-breaker for a cow.

Soured corn, the past time of the bored and the religion of the desperate.
Hogs will eat it, but as an attractant, it is nothing special.

Commercial attractants, however, perform exactly as intended. They take money out of your pocket and put it in theirs. Plain corn still works as good as anything. I'd rather spot and stalk though.

Tired it before and noticed no difference. What did happen is I spilled the crap on my boots and had to hunt smelling that crap.

I’ve had it work wonders and I’ve seen it not work at all. I still do it all the time though. Beer, corn, kool Aid, sugar, water. I like putting oats and brown sugar as well.

What did happen is I spilled the crap on my boots and had to hunt smelling that crap. TRUTH! And while folks want to use it an an attractant, you know what it won't attract? It won't attract members of the opposite sex, like your girlfriend, wife, or both.

Good ole deer corn seems to attract hogs just as well as any other attractant I've tried in the past... though the first hog I shot (many years ago) was part of a sounder that discovered a hole dug & filled with corn/Hog Wild. It's very possible those hogs were coming to the feeder the hole was near anyway and it was just a coincidence that the Hog Wild worked. Perhaps it helped by keeping them in the area slightly longer since they had to dig deep to get to it and the smell mixed in with the soil kept them digging around for more.
Since then, I've tried many other hog attractants (Pig Out, Hog Wild, etc) - and I haven't noticed any benefits compared to simply dumping some corn on the ground and/or waiting at a feeder. In fact... it seems every time after the first experience with an attractant... I wouldn't see any hogs show up until two or three days after applying the attractant. I do recall someone on here mentioned that it takes a few days for hogs to become comfortable around a different smelling food source.
Apart from feeder corn... where I see the most hogs are in food plots. Similar to deer - they'll ignore a nearby feeder with corn on the ground when the plants are at the tastiest stage of growth.

I think others have already said it, but when I trapped hogs, I saw no significant difference in success using fresh vs soured corn. Soured corn was just extra work, and if a drop gets on you, you either change or smell all day.

When I first started trapping pigs I soured many a bucket of corn, you name it I've tried it. Water/beer/sugar/koolaid/jello/molasses/syrup/honey/yeast/Pig Out/Hog Wild etc etc.....I did trap some pigs but also spooked some with the new attractants. I then learned that plain ol' corn in the traps works better than anything else, and it's cheaper and easier.
As far as digging a hole and burying soured corn to hunt over, I did a lot of that when I was younger and that worked better for me than soured corn in the traps for some reason. I'd bury soured corn and sit there all night LOL. Like others have mentioned, I wouldn't do it if there was livestock around.
