Looks to me like the Pit Boss is a better deal, the $499 PB is bigger than the $599 Traeger and already has the front shelf, side shelf, and goes to 500° where as the Traeger goes to 375° and doesn't have the shelves. Are the Pit Boss pellet grills just as good? Also the PT has a 5 year warranty vs the Traeger at 2. Am I on the right track?

I have a PB 850 & I've been impressed for the money spent. I think it's a best bang for your buck pellet smoker.

It doesn't answer your question, but watch Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for something better, same money. My current Weber Genesis Propane is a $900 grill I bought for $300, hardly used. I picked up a 3yr old RecTeq 680 for $300, got the wifi upgrade for $50 from a guy here in the Mound. I'm in $350 on a $1,200 pellet grill.

If you haven't tried them before, get some Mexican Short Ribs (Tablitas) from your local Mexican food store. Beef seasoning and then hot and fast. You'll thank me later. Nice change from Baby Backs.

As a newly minted RecTeq snob, I'll also comment they had to change their name from RecTec to RecTeq, which is why you see it both ways.

I was just about to buy a Camp Chef Vertical smoker, when my RecTeq got posted.

Last comment... if you do buy used, make sure you understand if there's a cost to upgrade to the Mfr's lasted electronics package which is usually WiFi capability. They tend to be $200+. It may make a good deal on a previous gen model, not so sweet due to the electronics cost.

Get to smokin'!

I liked this one. I am now propane. Only twice a week for about 10 minutes each.

Looks very similar to the one I have. I’ve cooked all kinds of stuff on it and it works great. My screen is getting a bit wonky need to contact them about that. Over all for money spent I’m very happy with it. I don’t have anything but a propane grill to compare it to though.

I’m guessing this was aimed at me, not sure why the hate on PB, I’m guessing just because it doesn’t cost double the others so it’s not good. But I probably cook more in a year than you have your entire life if that’s any gauge for the PB.

And don’t get butt hurt Buzz I’m just messing with you.

Cooked some pizza on it for lunch turned out good. Doing a pork loin wrapped in bacon later will take a picture this time.
