Can anyone recommend someplace to take my deer for an accurate scoring in the greater houston area? Should I do before taxidermy or can I do after?

Before or after doesn’t matter. Look up Texas Big Game Awards. They have many scorers all over the State. Otherwise I bet someone on here from your area would unofficially score him pretty close. Also post a picture an guys on here can get pretty close too. Also guys on here can teach you how to score yourself and get kinda close. If he’s big enough I may drive across State to score.

For official score you have to wait at least 60 days after the kill, rack will shrink a little. Lots of antlers are measured years after the animal was killed http://www.texasbiggameawards.org/official-scorers/

If you killed him in a region where you think he will be in the top 5, then get him scored by an official scorer first. Call the TPWD office in La Grange and get them to score him for you.

Definitely a deer I am super proud of but not worthy of a trip across state. Thank you
