I anticipate deer season all year. Made a big mistake. I killed a really nice buck, went about 130 inches, at about 10:00 AM. opening day. My season is over. Yeah, I could kill a doe or spike but I'm not a huge fan of venison.
I enjoy the hunt more than the kill. I could hunt hogs but I can do that anytime.
Hunt with a camera? That's just not me. It's kinda like kissing your sister. It's still a kiss but...

Find another county to hunt. I have three little places in different counties. I think that is one of my most real gripes about AR counties. You can fall into scenario like above. Before they came along after your initial harvest you had the rest of the season to better it or allow your kids the opportunity to take one. We lost that opportunity and still have to pay the same price for the lease or more. Just my thoughts

I did about the same, shot a big buck at the end of bow season and have since shot a doe and still may shoot a spike. I am different though because my family really enjoys venison, if I don’t process 3 deer every year we run out of meat. I have hunted the same area for 25+ years and without Ar’s I would have never had the opportunity to kill a 130 class deer. I realize every county is different but for me I am thankful for Ar’s. I have been hunting quite a bit since and have seen several shooters but I am happy with the buck I shot!

I didn’t know that I could do that.

OK, looking at my license, I see multiple buck or antlerless tags.
So, I can change counties and still shoot another buck?

I almost bought a property once just because it was split by two different counties that were AR. Which meant i could shoot two big bucks as long as they were each in a different county.

Hunted a ranch that had 4000 acres in one county and 3000 in another. Both were 1 buck counties, but we routinely killed 2 bucks each season. I once asked the game warden what to do if I was in the middle of the ranch and unsure what county I was in. He said to take your best guess and go with it.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

My aunts property up in the panhandle had a corner that intersected four counties. Our farm down the road is in 2 one buck counties

I trade hunts with a few friends that hunt other counties when something like that happens. We are out of regular license tags and have 3 MLD tags left. The only reason for this is that it is deer management year.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Hunt for the long game. If you find a big shooter buck that you can't shoot this year, you've done some really great scouting for the next season. Or, maybe you get the satisfaction of scouting a deer up for someone else.
