What’s the best flooring to go over an OSB subfloor
I read vinyl sheet flooring is a no no.

Search using OSB as a floor surface. One that I saw they cut the OSB into 24x48 sheets and laid them in a running tile pattern. Then sanded, the finish that was applied was a commercial gym floor finish.

In ours, I used plywood for the floor and used an equal mix of boiled linseed oil, mineral spirits and spar polyurethane. Poured a gallon of each in a 5 gallon bucket, mixed up good. Then l literally mopped the floor with it, letting it soak in, if a spot looked like it was soaking in and needed more, I mopped over it. The following weekend, I mopped it again with a lighter coat. I did not care about the print on the OSB or the nails showing, it was a cabin, rustic and the nails, print added class.

seal it well before you put anything over it, osb hates moisture and will swell bad if it gets damp.

if you just want cheap and easy, epoxy floor paint.

want a little more fancy in it then laminate flooring, float it with about 1/4" off walls etc. get the all plastic laminate for durability

another option is put down some sanded plywood, 1/2" works good, stain and finish the plywood, I would put 15" felt paper down first as a barrier layer.

26 years and ours is still unfinished 3/4" plywood. Surprisingly it does not look look bad.

OSB is going to absorb moisture from the bottom and deteriorate no matter what you do. I really don't see how vinyl sheet flooring would be any different than other method as long as you completely seal the ENTIRE floor. (Especial under the cabinets)

When you say OSB, are referring to the OSB flooring material, or OSB sheathing and using it on the floor? This material is made for flooring and is a better material than what is used on roofing and exterior walls as sheathing. As to what kind of flooring, I'm not too sure on that. I've seen carpet put on it in upstairs locations.

Might want to look at LVT. It is the new rage in vinyl flooring.

we put cheap fake wood flooring over ours. That was 11 years ago.
