Little man who is 8 was on the camera and he did a pretty good job. Buck came out pretty quick so didn’t get a lot of video but what we got was sweet. First shot dropped him but was a little higher than I wanted, had a little buck fever so I put another one in him to kill him quickly and ensure he didn’t get up and run out of my life forever. I’ve never reacted like this after shooting a deer but I’ve also never had this much anticipation nor have I ever killed a 192 in deer so I’m not apologizing lol.

Thats great. I love looking at really big bucks but to see one that big alive and moving around and in that beautiful country I love it. I also really hate on most hunting shows when an experienced hunter just goes nuts over an everyday type kill for him. But to kill one that huge and to see REAL genuine excitement is great. As others have said, to do it with your son and to forever have on video is a life long memory for sure. That rack even looks more impressive when you can see different angles with him wagging it around.

Man I knew it all worked out, but even so I couldn't help thinking "don't break that rack!!!!"

That is a great follow up... My dad shot a buck high like that and he went straight down. We thought he was done for, but as we got down to him he jumped up and took off. All we found was a little bone and hair. Looking back makes me wish we had gone ahead and put a follow up in him......

That was a lot of fun to watch! my wife asked me why I was grinning, I told her because sometimes things go the way they are supposed to.

The follow up shot may or may not of been needed but on a buck like that you did the right thing. Unless, of course it goes through and busts that antler.

You can fix the antler I didn't want to see him lay there and flop around or possibly recover and run off so it was a quick and easy decision for me.
