Anyone hunting opening weekend for Mule Deer in the Panhandle? Headed up to Briscoe county this weekend. Looks like a strong cold front hits Sunday with temps down in the 20s. Hoping for a good weekend.

It can get cold in the Panhandle. We hunted in Cottle in about 1990. Huge place, never been hunted so we felt pretty special. We were in tents and it got down in the low teens so we didnt feel so special anymore. I believe it was Thanksgiving day and the roads were solid ice going from ETx to Albany where we met most of the guys and then went on up. Actually, maybe Cottle isnt even considered Panhandle. Anyway, enjoy your hunt and good luck.

I drove through Briscoe yesterday. 'Saw muleys moving.

I will be out. Have been scouting the last 2 weekends. Have seen does and yearlings so I'll stake it out and try and glass up the bucks.

I’ll be hunting the canyon and glassing from the ridges. It looks like temps drop to the 30s and rain Sunday so thinking Sun, Mon and Tues are gonna be the best days.

Watched 16 muleys move off my place onto the neighbor's cut cotton field this evening. Mostly does, but had a couple of young bucks in the group. The bigger boys I've seen were still bedded down, I'm sure. Just a few more days.

Would be good if they opened the season around the 10th of December and the big boys would come out to play.

Agreed, the season is a little too early but the mulies go dumb as a post in full rut and people would be popping them left and right

Headed to my place north of Amarillo tomorrow morning. Scouted two weeks ago and saw several nice WTs and all MD doe and forkys. I always see the bigger bucks after Thanksgiving. Like others, I wish the season started in December.

BBD in Dickens county this morning. I'll let Sappertitan post pics and story of his big Mulie. He's got his hands full right now cleaning the beast.

Bumping this thread with a pic of a Dickens county buck killed Saturday morning on our pasture at the Pitchfork ranch. Sapper Titan killed this 192 3/8 monarch. You don’t have to travel out of state to kill big mulies..... ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/11/full-43746-266302-0544d16c_a7c3_4a3c_867e_8b2bfed0c58c.jpeg)
