Have a nest in between the tin roof and stand so they are not getting inside. The problem is when I open windows I have them looking interested in coming inside and I have to sit there with my shoe in hand and become very jumpy and loud when I see them try to come in. I sprayed where I believe the nest/entry spot is but that just seemed to piss them off due to me not being able to get back in the nest. Any ideas?

Dust the area they land and gap they crawl through before going into the nest heavily with powdered Sevin. They will carry the Sevin into the nest which will kill anything in the nest.
Over the years I’ve used it efficiently on copper wasps, yellow jackets and the yellow and black wasps that look like big yellow jackets.

A shoe? Let them land and cut them in two with a pocket knife. Better than a video game.

What are those insect repellant ear tags for cattle called? Can use them (hang them in and around the blind).

Since the early 90's I have put a Shell No Pest Strip or ProZap Pest Strip in my deer blinds. I will refresh it with a new one every 3-6 months depending on how tightly sealed the blind is. Wasp and Yellow Jackets are looking for a place to hibernate this time of the year when the colder weather moves down in my area. They are trying to get inside the blind right when the first one or two really cold fronts move down. The Pest Strips do not keep them away as well as they will kill them. When they get inside the blind and there overnight it will kill them. I keep a small whisk broom to sweep the dead ones up and throw them outside. I put a couple inside my barn by the roll up doors to keep the wasp and bees out of my barn and they do work.

Berrymans B12 drops them on the spot. Fumes from it will permeate all up under the roof (spray liberally any openings) and kill them. Then I recommend sealing off any cracks/openings with expanding foam to end and future problems. Regular wasp sprays need to get on each insect and don't work that well anyway. Berrymans B12 will absolutely annihilate them.

Go back after dark with a couple cans of wasp spray. Have eliminated wasps from several blinds using this method.

Be very careful with many of the wasp spray on the market today. Several good ones in past years at the big box stores now just piss them off. Always a shame to see good products get cheapen for profit sake mad

The best wasp spray besides B12 Chemtool seems to be Bengal.

I use the raid foggers. Had a PM hunt couple of weeks ago and the tower blind was covered up. Put a Raid fogger in there, went to my other blind for the PM sit and I was good to go the next morning in the tower. Restripped the door with 1' foam weather stripping and they can't get in any longer.

They are not as aggressive this time of year as they are protecting nests, just the fertile females finding a place to winter and do get a little active on warm days, suggestions are good above to take care of them. Next year have no pest strips in there and they will find other wintering areas. Of course they are a pain literally but do serve a function in nature of getting rid f other bugs, just do it away from where we are at is preferable.

i hve set in blinds in the past that had them in there, then later took care of them. One place having wasps wintering in the blind never really bothered me and no one else on the lease hunted my blind as long as the wasps were there.

Hot shot pest strips. Good for 3 months.

If you don’t want to bisect yellow jackets listen to STX and be done with it.

We use Palmolive Oxy scented dish soap in a spray bottle. It is relatively scent free.

Put a tablespoon or two in the bottle and fill the bottle with water. Shake it up a little before you use it. Will kill wasps and bees just as well as anything else, and doesn’t stink up your stand.

Apparently the soap allows the wasp to absorb the water and it quickly drowns them

Plain old Windex will put them down too....but I've found nothing faster/better than Carb Cleaner to knock them out. It evaporates quickly and doesn't leave a scent for very long. I wouldn't use ANY product while hunting, just hit them on your way out.

Dad? is that you?

My wife and kids tend to freak out, but if you just leave them alone they will leave you alone also.

Yellow jackets are like dogs and horses. They can sense fear.

I've tried just about all the brands of wasp spray and the one that has outperformed them all is made by Bengal. It truly kills on contact and leaves many of them stuck dead still on the nest. And the ones that fall to the ground seldom show any signs of life. I've been able to hit nests as high as 12-15 feet off the ground with it.

Just make sure you get the Bengal wasp spray because the can for their wasp spray looks almost identical to their roach spray.

Let me get this right - you guys stake soaps, pesticides and other chemicals to your deer stands?

dish soap and water in a spray bottle works like magic. You are also no smelling the chemicals from sprays inside the blind.

I bought an electric fly swatter for the blind. It's powerful enough to stun a wasp/bee when it makes contact. Sometimes it even kills them... though most of the time they drop and can be easily squished. It'll kill any smaller bugs instantly.

Make sure to get one of the high voltage ones. I had a weaker one that barely worked - I could touch it and only get a small shock. The one I have now will leave a burn mark.
