Looking to get a new booster to use inside my camper. I've used a buddies booster before and it worked okay, but the phone had to be 3-4 feet from the inside antenna.

Any suggestions on a model for literally zero cell phone signal without boost?

I’m in same boat, so far Wilson is top of all recommendations.

I have a Weboost product in my blind (not sure which model) with their antenna above the blind, on a pole attached to the trailer the blind is on. With nothing, I have 1 bar of Verizon LTE in my hand, and 2 bars of LTE if I prop the phone against a window with the base on a metal shelf. With the Weboost turned on, I didn't see any change. I also have a Sprint phone that's pretty close to the above as well, slightly less at times.

The moral of my story... they won't create a signal if there's none there, you have to have something to boost. I have some signal, but certainly could be my antenna isn't high enough to grab some more to boost higher.

It looks like this and has this antenna.

Weboost is what I have as well. No signal inside before I installed it. Full LTE after. Good investment.

What antenna do you have and how high is it?

Do y’all have metal roofs on the blinds and trailer?

We just got a Cel-fi last month....it's the strongest booster you can buy. We tried a We-Boost and it wasn't strong enough. Cel-Fi wasn't cheap, but we went from zero bars to 2-3 bars inside our cabin with metal roof.

I built out a container so it’s all metal. The kit comes with an internal and a external antenna. The external antenna mounts on the outside and runs to the internal booster via coaxial cable. My outdoor antenna is mounted on the corner of my container maybe 15’ off the ground. It’s easy to install and we have several in our camp.

Our place is in the Panhandle and 11 miles from the nearest town. We stay in our aluminum travel trailer inside a 60x40 Quonset hut shop. Two days ago I installed the Weboost multi-room booster 470144 directional antenna on the power pole outside the shop and ran 30 ft of RG-6 coax into the shop, connected to the booster (plugged into 120v), then ran to the inside antenna through 100 ft of RG-11 coax. 4 or 5 bars of LTE where we had no signal. I'm on my laptop now, inside the trailer, inside the shop, and knocking the air out of THF. grin

Absolutely a great investment and highly recommended.

My wife ordered this exact unit last night, but my only concern is having to be right beside the indoor antenna to get signal.

What kind of indoor range are you getting? Other units I've used in the past only gave 3-4 feet at the most

I'm currently inside my travel trailer which is about 20 feet from the inside antenna. 4-5 LTE bars all day long. You will not have to be "right beside the indoor antenna to get signal." My wife even did a zoom call yesterday. No issues.

I replaced my old Wilson (closest tower was changed to a new band that the old Wilson did not cover) with a HiBoost MINI recently and I have been very pleased.

I have the Antenna up at 25'. We get 3-4 bars anywhere within the 460 sq cabin. Consistent 55 Mbps down\9 Mbps speed test.
Outside, on front porch, you still get 2 bars. Move off the porch and you are immediately back in the land of maybe 1 bar. Without the booster, calls and txt messages are iffy.

It's solid enough I can now work, including video conference, from the cabin using my phone as a hotspot. I could never do that with the old booster.

I may be asking too much of these boosters being there's no signal to begin with, but I'll give it hell and report back.

If you cannot find a spot outside where you can get one solid bar and make voice calls, don't was your money. At the same time, its amazing what 20' - 30' of elevation change will do for you.

You also have to have separation between the outside antenna and the inside antenna. Consider 20' (one joint of pipe) of vertical separation an absolute minimum, unless you are talking about being inside an all tin building, with no windows or doors on the same side as the external antenna. Just trying to stick the antenna on top of a deer blind or your travel trailer is not going to gain anything. The two antennas will interfere with each other.

Guys on the lease told us this same thing last year, but we were able to make a cheap booster work to at least have texting abilities. There's literally zero cell signal within 500 yards of camp until you get elevated on a hillside.

Edit: I can get boosters to work, but only within a few feet of the indoor antenna. Hoping the newer WeBoost has more pop

Its what we use here at the house for the last 4 years. I had one bar most of the time but would still drop calls. Bought the system at BestBuy. Mounted the small directional dish on a pole about 20' off the ground, tied to the eve, and searched the best signal.

For some of y'all rich guys not a problem but be prepared to get off your wallet.

Do some research before you buy one....Cel-Fi is a much stronger booster than WeBoost. 100 db vs 60-70 db. If you get a good signal it may not matter, but if it's very sparse the stronger booster will make a difference.

I don't take my phone to the blind. My ex got me a phone in the early days of cell phones and fussed at me for not carrying it when I went fishing. I told her that I go fishing to fish and to get away from her nagging. She gave it to one of the kids. I went without until my boss told me to get one. We have a hill on the lease where all can get service. At camp it is spotty with ATT but I can walk around until I find a signal. Only time I use phone in camp is to call Dish or check weather.

I used a wilson mobile booster in the semi back in the 90s, used an aircard from Tmobile and it let me get on the internet from some really remote places, az/nm state line on I10 for one.

owners just had me buy a booster for the ranch, top of the line wilson is now around 1,200.00 and will be a pain to install with the instructions for finding a signal. lucky for me I can just put it on top of a gable and out here that should be adequate height. the separation is a big deal with them, this one has to have 75' horizontal and at least 20' vertical but they give you everything you need to install except a pole for the outside ant.

Many folks that blame boosters for not working well are actually fighting the separation issue.

With conventional radio repeater systems, the repeater receives on one frequency and retransmitted on a different frequency, that is quite a ways away from the receive freq.

Without physical antenna separation on cell phone boosters, the receiver hears its own transmitter.

I just put in a Weboost Basic Home this year. The instructions are clear to make sure that there's plenty of distance between the antenna and the booster, so I used all the cable they provided. Used an app to find the closest tower, and mounted the antenna about 10 feet off the ground pointed right at it. Went from sporadic phone calls if I stood in just the right spot on the porch to being able to make and receive calls inside the metal trailer. The trailer is an old 12x60 office trailer, and you can make a call from anywhere in it. I'd highly recommend it. If it doesn't work, Weboost will give you your money back.
