In the market for another set of shooting sticks. Really like the idea of the tri-pod but curious if anyone else had a preference. Read some reviews but not a lot of comparison information available.

Tripod will be much more versatile. Main reason I run a tripod is so I can leave the gun mounted while calling and looking through a thermal. Once a target is acquired, pop scope on and keep calling and it’s ready to shoot.
Down side is size, weight, and it’s something else to carry

I have two tripod rigs. One is a nice one with the Kopfjager Reaper ontop and the other is a set of primos trigger sticks in tripod form. Frankly, I use the primos more because they are easy to quickly setup, adjust, and move. The nice set is relegated to a single shooting lane to keep the gun on target for long, night hunts (pigs)

There was a similar thread I think in Open Hunting a short while back about this that may have good info. I use light weight collapsible shooting sticks but I never even thought about using for calling(I dont) like someone said. Definitely would need something substantial if you wanted it to hold the gun up without your help,

Down side is size, weight, and it’s something else to carry What are you using to do this and how do you get it there? Leave the gun mounted? I use a collapsible bipod and love it.

I’m running a Innorel 90CT, heavy duty carbon fiber tripod, topped with a Reaper Grip. When I call coyotes I don’t walk far from my SxS, sometimes I stand in the bed and shoot off the roof. If I’m walking I sling the rifle, carry the tripod like a walking stick. I leave the gun mounted once I get set up at location, this allows me to quickly scan 360 degrees. Takes 2-3 seconds to mount the thermal back onto the gun and I know where the gun is. Sure beats keeping a rifle slung for hours

Primos tripod trigger stick. I run the aluminum HogSaddle for night time hog hunting as it holds gun securely. Recently put "V" back on top of it for spot stalk doe trip. Worked great. Just play with it and soon carrying, setting it up and using it become easy

Old-school here. 'Killed many animals on African-style, wooden, tripod shooting sticks. You can make your own outa 1/2'' dowels w/copper pipe joints in the middle and a vacuum cleaner belt. Sling the rifle over one shoulder, put the opposite side's fingers through the sticks and walk that way. You can usually deploy the sticks well before any animal spooks. 'Can't dilly-dally though. You'll get used to it. Easy peezy.

Primos trigger sticks here. Have use homemade sticks in the past, with trigger sticks i can raise or lower the saddle easily while still looking through the scope.

I had been using a pair of old Bog Pods for many years - worked OK and were lightweight.
Recently got a Feisol ball mount on top of a tripod along with a hog saddle. Wow what a difference that makes.
Bit heavy to carry around, but for setting up to shoot at a feeder that is 200 yards from the trailer... it's awesome.

I usually use a Primos Trigger stick bipod when spot-and-stalking because it's relatively light, relatively quiet and easy to make adjustments to. I recently bought a Bog Pod Deathgrip after using my buddy's and being impressed. Much heavier and better suited for a stationary spot, but it's super adjustable and will help you keep that rifle secure and dialed in. Growing up, we used the "African style" shooting sticks (we lived in South America and didn't call them that, they were just shooting sticks) and we used two sections of a local wood tied with a piece of inner tube. Worked great for decades, I think the set I used was originally made for my grandfather by a hunting buddy.
