WTW, I am sorry for your loss as well. From the photos, she was a beautiful woman and an outdoor girl to boot. Like the others here have said, I am sure she is missed and hope you've found peace with the passing of time.

I was just down that stretch this past weekend as I hunt in that area. Folks have driven crazy in that area even before cell phones.

This is a regular thing in D/FW. Rush hour is horrific and everyone has their face buried in their phone. Even at the drive through at Whataburger I've had to honk at people to move up. I just don't get it.

I live in Stephenville and only travel that stretch of road when necessary. I used to commute for work on that road to Interstate 20 in the early 2000`s till 2005 and before cell phones and texting was such a huge problem and before Tarleton`s growth exploded. It was much safer then, but now everyone want to drive 80+ on that stretch of road. When we were looking for land to build on 4 years ago, we would not even look at anything that was on that stretch of road.

^^^^Us too. We're off of 205 with dramatically less traffic. I've still seen some bad accidents on our stretch of hwy. Most involved not paying attention, animals, or overcorrecting when their right side tires go off the road. It is a skinny road until it gets closer to the 'ville. Both hands on the wheels, folks. 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock.

I drive 281 from Stephenville to I-20 often. Cant really avoid it due to where we live and where the family ranch is. I try to go during low traffic times. I’ve seen some bad wrecks and too many near misses.

When we lived in Comanche, I preferred to take 16 to I-20...but man y’all better watch for the deer and hogs in the dark. I know too many people who have totaled their vehicles out there due to animal strikes.

There were 5 guys at my senior lunch table in high school. Two of them didn’t live to see 21 due to roadway accidents.

Driving north on 377 over Denton Creek one morning headed to Lake Lewisville with boat in tow. As a came town the hill I see a car on opposite hill that looks like it is in my lane. It is probably close to a mile from south hill to north. It was hard to tell in dark if he was in my lane. I would have just pulled off the road but no shoulder in that area. I decided to just play chicken with him. I did not want to move to other lane too soon so I waited until the last second swerved and passed him in the southbound lane. I was still shaking when I got to the lake. That was in days before air bags and cell phones.

This^^ I travel hwy 71 then, 16 S. in the wee hrs every morning. The deer and hogs are thick. It’s really incredible the amount of hogs that’ll zip in front of you.

I had a similar experience years ago on 51 between Granbury and Weatherford. I was southbound with my wife and kids in the truck and topped the hill by Silverado. There was a truck coming in the other lane and a truck in my lane passing him just over the crest of the hill. I started to swerve to the shoulder but the A-hole coming at me did the same so I yanked the wheel back and shot between them at 65-70 mph. It was probably 1-2 seconds from the time I saw him to the time I passed them. I was about 1/2 mile down the road before it started really sinking in what had just happened.

Very weird coincidence.
When I posted my last post I was sitting in the car in Stephenville waiting for my wife while she was getting tested for Covid. On the way home on 377 a car coming the other way lost it, side swiped a guard rail, came into my lane and almost took me out. I swerved to the shoulder and the other car skidded back into their lane and kept fishtailing until they got it to the shoulder. Just another example of why you have to pay attention all the time.

Something has got to be about the damn cell phones. Stop at a red light, whip out the phone. There is nothing that can be that important.

No kidding. Glad you're OK....My Opthalmologist is in Stephenville medical surgical bldng. Near Linglevill hwy. Doc says they're averaging 100 covid tests a day. That was at my last visit a month ago. Probably higher by now.

Thanks guys. Her test was negative. We didn't think she had it but since she was sick she got the test just in case.
