The tall handsome law school grandson has a rather serious girlfriend. We’ve met her, and she’s real nice and has a great sense of humor. Tall, slim, pretty, blonde, and athletic. Parents are very rich, apparently, and live in an upscale section of Highland Park. The GS and GF will be visiting tomorrow. The GS, slim as he is, can eat a ton of chicken fried venison, his favorite meal, so the wife is going to cook it for him. She asked the GF if she liked chicken fried steak, and the girl had never had it. Never. Do they not eat CF steak in upscale Dallas? Is it just us country boys, rednecks, and s___ kickers that love it?

Well, I sure hope she likes it, cause that’s what’s for supper. Cross your fingers for us.

My momma pounded out and chicken fried T-bones.

Chicken fried venison, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn were a staple in my house growing up. My mom could make the best. Friends would come over, eat it and say they thought their mom's was the best until they ate at my house.

I make mine out of top sirloin and have’em run it through the tenderizer twice. Falls apart in your mouth!

As for the girl... it’s not her fault. I blame the parents... maybe the’re from California or something

Hudbone, you know I love those shrimp cocktails at El Charro in Marlin. Darn good hot sauce (will light you up) and chips too. And the green chicken enchiladas I had a couple days ago were as good as any I ever had anywhere. Up there or better than Chuy’s, Los Cucos, Cyclone Anaya’s, and even Pico’s in Bellaire.

Don't say nothing and just serve dinner.
She'll adjust or just eat salad, bread, etc.
High dollar Dallas folks can think on their feet and will adapt. Don't sweat anything. Just be the best grand parents you've always been.

I never had a chicken fried steak until I moved away from home. My mother apparently considered it low class.

I worked at a restaurant in downtown for years and we had chicken fried ribeye. It was fantastic but not what momma use to make lol.
