I have a maverick loaded with 000 but the pistol and AR with soft points suppressed is by the bed. I see where you are coming from and may pull an 870 out... Good post Patty

Mine is that one. A remington M870 home defense shotgun, but I put synthetic furniture on. Boring, but bet my life on it.

It isn't cheap, but it's one of the best. Faster and lighter than an M4. Beretta 1301 Tactical, Gen 2 12ga with their Blink recoil system. This is the one with the redesigned bolt release and utilizing screw in chokes. It is heavily modified.
