Hey guys, every year for opening day we get the boys together for the weekend and we try to play a round of golf on Friday. We heard about these old West Texas courses scattered around Jacksboro, Graham, Anson, Hamlin. We played Graham last year and it was a really nostalgic old Texas feel. We are going to play Anson this year. I wanted to see if anyone had played any of these courses or have similar traditions for opening weekend?

Runaway Bay Golf Course is close to Jacksboro and looks like fun..Have also seen many nice bucks near the course in early morning hours driving 114W to Murray..

I played Jacksboro a few weeks back...cheap for a reason. Great folks but cow pasture golf at its finest. 9 hole course, greens were respectable but tee boxes & fairways were a mowed down weed patch.

Play Throckmorton. THS boy's golf has won multiple state championships by practicing on that course.

Never played a hole in my life no time running a business, hunting plus fishing but son plays and happy you guys enjoy it.

Never played a hole in my life no time running a business, hunting plus fishing but son plays and happy you guys enjoy it. The closest I have come to playing was riding in the cart and drinking beer.
