Got lucky and won an SBE2 at our local DU banquet last week. Curious what extended choke you guys like out of the Benelli? I’ve been shooting my 20 year old SuperX2 with extended Carlson chokes for years but might shoot the SBE2 some this year before I pass it over to my 15 year old. Thanks Coach

Been shooting my SBE2 13 years, use same stock IC choke all the time, it’s perfect for shots out to 45 yards. Shoot #4 1 1/8 load.

I have the Carlsons extended chokes for my SBE2. The improvement in the pattern is there, but not as much as a typical scattergun with steel shot since the factory tubes are already relatively long. When I put it to paper there was small difference but that may be because the mid range is just a bit more constricted than the factory modified I was testing. The main reason I like them (I got the 3 pack for short, mid, and long range) is that the extension protects the end of the barrel and it's easier to change out. They're also not an arm and a leg. I had a flush factory choke tube get stuck in my Super Nova, my fault not its fault, but if it were extended it would have been a lot easier to deal with.
Teal season I use the short range then change it out for the mid range for big duck season. If I ever got into a crane or longer range goose hunt I'd put the long range in, but I know there is a limit to the shot size with the tight choke. Zero complaints from me I'd definitely buy them again if I had to.

I dont own a sbe, but generally speaking after market choke tubes make minimal difference. Not to mention your pattern can very based on every load and shot size.
If your set on a extended choke tube, find one you like. They are all good. Then pick a half dozen different loads and go put them on a patterning board and see which one shoots the best for you and only shoot those loads going forward.
But honestly, I think the best thing for all shooters is to spend more time shooting clays.
With that said I have a Carlson cremator attached to my browning.

When my son was in 4H, all the kids had them extended tubs, and I think it was more about the cool factor...But it had to be the ones you tight'n with your fingers, before every shot, the cool thing to do is tight'n that choke, kinda like a pool sharp chalking his cue before a shot.

patternmaster have shot well for me. I swear by my patternmaster code blacks and have convinced/converted at least half a dozen hunting buddies to hop on the patternmaster train over the last several seasons. Shorten the shot string vs constriction.

I think the stock choke on the SBE 3 is extended, maybe someone on the forum who has one can confirm. Would this be an upgrade for the new model or is it just an option for hunters who like to fiddle with their guns?

Yes, I have a SBE3 it it came with extended chokes. I didn't like my pattern though -- I wanted an IM not an IC because I want more distance with less holes in the pattern. That led me to an aftermarket choke. I bought 3 or 4 and tried them out till I found one that I like and now it never leaves my gun.
The others were given to friends and put in my old SBE2.
