My SIL is interested in a Glock 19X and asked for my advice. I really have no clue. Why would he want one, or not, and how does it compare to just a 17 or 19 (knowing the parameters of the 19X).
Thanks!
Also asked about replacing the trigger with something like the Apex trigger and the connector like the Ghost.
It's not what you say, or think, that counts. It is what you DO!

Barrel length of 19 grip of 17. Best of both worlds to me. I don’t care for the fde so I’d rather have the 45

It’s a solid gun. You can’t go wrong any those you said unless you have large hands then you might want the grip length of 19x, 45, or 17

It runs and runs well!! Don't need another trigger unless you just want to spend money. I don't run any of mine with a Ghost connector.

Just get the 17 19x makes no sense. I’m a huge Glock fan boy but a 19 slide with a 17 frame I just don’t understand it. For a carry pistol you want a shorter frame for printing. The slide goes inside the waist completely hidden or even owb still easily hidden. The grip/frame is what is hard to hide. As for the slide you always want the most sight radius as possible. So why hamstring yourself with a full size grip but compact slide. If you’re going to go fill size grip might as well go full size slide and get the extra sight radius.

I never thought I would like it, but a friend of mine bought a 19x. It's a shootin dude!
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I am the opposite. I like the 19x. For my daily carry. Smaller slide doesn’t dig into my hip. I have man sized hands so the 17 grip is perfect. Don’t really worry about printing, I don’t wear super tight clothing though. Just my .02

I would go with the G45 instead of the G19X. Same size as the 19X but all Black and cheaper. I like the size but don't care for the all FDE.

The 19x and model 45 are absolutely good for some. Thank goodness we have many options for different folks. I'm a fan and say get one. Sometimes ( for those like me collecting too many things) you just want a thing. It doesn't need to matter to anyone else. But succinctly, the full grip carrying the most popular slide in the G family, works well.

The G-45 is slightly different than the 19x. The differences are slight, but they are there. I have two of the G-45s....on regular TFO night sights and the other one has an optic on it. Love both of them. The grip frame is about 1/2" longer at the most than the 19, but my pinky has plenty of real estate to hang out in without getting cramped by the magwell flare. Had a 19 for a short time, but the short grip frame drove me batty.
