I fully understand that it’s late in the year to be finding sheds. However, my cousin and I are scouting out a new place. We stopped to talk about the oak trees we were standing under and the lack of visibility at ground to 3 feet. I looked down and BOOM antler shed clear as day! I said “oh man I’ve never found an antler shed much less a pair” he took a step and found the other side! We’ve decided this is the area we are hunting this year. If nothing else it has brought us the joy of finding our first complete antler she’d set.

It is cool finding a pair together.
That pair shows some brow tine potential.

I love finding sheds. I've never found both sides though. Really cool find.

I pray I find this young buck a mildly older buck this year. That would just blow me away.

I always find matching sets, they are usually still attached to the skull though frown

One of my favorite times of the year is in the spring when sheds start to drop. I have found a lot of them over the years, most were singles but have found matching sets. Rare to find them together but it is nice when you do. I have foundmatches side by side and as far as 1.5 miles apart. On a very large ranch in South Texas I found a single side off of the same buck for 3 yrs in a row...all were about 25 yards apart. Found a single or matching set off of some bucks as many as 5 yrs in a row. On a lease I had and on my place here I have found one side off a buck for two years in a row and then killed him the 3rd year. Found a single shed from a buck here one year and seen him grow into a great buck for this area, but never killed him.

Last year I thought I had found my first shed but turns out it was a skull. Not sure what got him but he was a rather large 10. I found him in the bottom of a dry creek bed.
