October 23,1911 – this day in automotive history, A spot of English T. The Ford Motor Company began intercontinental production on this day in 1911 when the first Model Ts left a factory in Trafford Park, Manchester, England, the first Ford assembly plant outside of North America. Three years after production started here, Britain’s first moving assembly line was installed at the plant, allowing the factory to pump out more than 20 vehicles per hour.

Henry Ford made the model T affordable for working Americans, which changed the social and economic landscape.

That's cool stuff. I have a picture of my Great Grandfather that was a WW1 Combat Vet, after surviving trench warfare came home to be a Model-T mechanic. The picture that I speak of is him posing for a picture in a shop with Model T's in the back ground. My little brother looks just like him. He moved on to become the Sheriff of Kingfisher County Oklahoma for over 30 years and built quite the reputation for not f'n around. Would have been cool to meet him.

20 a day is impressive as hell for 1911! Yup....and he was putting them out at a rate of 20 per hour! Incredible logistical feat....

Anyone ever hand crank or push to start one? Park on a hill?
