My property near the house offers very few shots over 100 yards other than my range which is only about 20 yards wide. I think I'm gonna give this rifle a go this year. Bought it new in 2009 but haven't hunted with it. Marlin 308SDT limited run in 308 Marlin Express with Brockman peep sight. 16.25" barrel makes it handy and still pushes a 140 over 2400fps, should do the trick on deer and hogs.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

If ever there was an east Texas woods rifle, that certainly is one of them. That 16 1/4" barrel is super cool!

I've been watching for a JM stamped laminate and stainless Marlin for a long time. They rarely come up for sale.
Beautiful gun.

I have it's brother, a 1894 in 357 Mag. Love that little rifle for hunting places like you described.
That 308 Marlin will have plenty to get the job done.

Never had a 308 Marlin Express myself, but I've been a fan. Let us know how you do.

But can you get ammo for it? Nice bang stick! I have about 20 boxes of 140 and 5 or 6 of the 160s. I'll probably never shoot it that much. My father-in-law has the dies for it so I could reload if it came to that.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Got one just like it in 4570... Keep it in the tractor and in the jeep for pigs. Under 100 DRT no matter where you hit em.
