A little CLR and you're in business! I’m kicking around the idea of restoring it... been watching a few YouTube videos. It was in a fire there’s a small piece of the burnt stock on it... barrel is bent a little prob due to the fire

Cool old rifle. I have a Model 64 that I think is about 70 yrs. old, and in way better shape than that one.

I honestly would probably just use it for a fire poker. Make a nice conversation piece.

It was in a fire from the looks of it. Don't want to bust your bubble but it's toast.

Ya after reading and watching a few videos it’s long gone. May look for a cheap butt stock, clean it up a bit add some clear and it’ll be a nice ornament. The Winchester model 63 is a real nice gun it’ll be a nice conversation piece.

I would also have bought it. And then spent years trying to figure out what to do with it.

Fonzie, that's a fitting place for that old rifle. If you can find a stock very cheap, you could do a "dug up" with the wood and make it look about the same age. A dug up is lightly sand off the finish and bury it for a week. If it still looks too new, bury it again. You shouldn't need more than 3 weeks. With aged wood that rifle would look great up there.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Nice, you can get a piece of pvc pipe and put a cap on 1 end put the gun in it and fill with white vinegar, let it soak for 3 days , take it out rinse with water , wire brush, you will be surprised how it comes out, make sure to oil it good. do no leave more than 3 days it will eat it up . Forrest

Forrest Would you think that might work for a totally cosmolined rifle? Trying to figure out how to rescue one I bought that was submerged in a vat of cosmoline and set aside to drip dry many years ago!

Set it in the sun to get a hot, this will soften the cosmolen and make it easier to remove. Then get a can of acetone and start cleaning, a few cheap toothbrushes and a gadzillion paper towels will help. You can soak it n acetone, but you need an up right vat, as described with using vinegar. Instead of acetone you can also use mineral spirits. I have heard of people using kerosene, but my gunsmith said not to use it or gasoline. Make sure you wear chemical type gloves. After the gun is "hot" use paper towels soaked in acetone. A good layer of newspapers on the worksurface will help with the clean up.

Mineral spirits work well, spray bottle, shop rags and gloves. Took me 5 hours the last gun I did.

I really don't know about vinegar taking cosmoline off of a gun, acetone that has already been suggested would probably cut it better. Forrest
