I have a small tank on my property that ducks land on, I see about an average of 13 ducks there in the evening. Would investing in a couple of decoys be worth it or am I good from here? I don't duck hunt a lot.

I read a magazine article once that said odd numbers of decoys will draw ducks better than even numbers. I never knew ducks could count but just curious if anyone does this. I plan to try it this year as well as only using hen decoys. That farm pond might be the perfect place to try this.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Like 3-4-5 wigeon to the left the 3-4-5 gadwalls in the middle and then 3-4-5 teal to the right and than 2-3-4 pintail, or mallards, or ringnecks on the far up wind side. All groups separated by 10 yards or so

I’d buy a half dozen. Would be best if you knew what kind of ducks are there.

Whats the reasoning behind using only hen decoys?

Whats the reasoning behind using only hen decoys? Early season, drakes haven’t developed their colors. They look very similar to hens and the bright colors of a finished out drake may deter those early season birds as they’ve seen similar decoys all the way down.
