ya i stole this pic from a felow thf'er..... hope he doesnt mind!! my question is, would this qualify under the ARs?? lets just all pretend and understand that the deer is not 13 in wide anywhere. my question is.... is it slick antlered???? now lets pretend like one of the split antlers is outside the 13in and one is inside, so is the deer legal in this way?

i have no idea... IMO, the side with two beams, one could say the interior antler is the brow tine, so he'd be 13 inches. but, he would not have the points. so i dunno. Deer needs to go either way, i dont think a GW would ticket you.
As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind...Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks--Thomas Jefferson

The deer looks like he has horns outside the ears.Take him. sounds like you think the antlers should be 13" long. this is not the case. Out side the ears is how the book says to judge. I have spoke with several different wardens that i have asked the question. What if the bucks ears are not 13" say 11 and the bucks spread is 12.5" would you ticket. they said no since the book says to use the ears as a field judgement then the deer is legal.

it's kinda hard to see what's goin on in that pic... looks like one side has two "spike type" antlers and the other is at least forked.
If the one side does have a spike type antler I say he's legal. under the provision "at least one unbranched antler"

For those of you who know what agency I work for, the restriction says, 'at least one unbranched antler' which it DOES have on its right side, at least one. I view and understand that as being a legal buck even though it is 13" or greater between the widest part of the main beams.
I just wish I could see the base where the right antler is coming out of the skull to be absolutely sure. In a county w/o antler restrictions, the first opportunity to let the arrow fly or pull the trigger, no question about it.

That's for sure. Trying to make sure there aren't any brow tines hidden behind the ears can be difficult.
It's probably worth noting the current restrictions define a branch or "point" as being a one-inch protrusion measured from the edge (not center) of the mainbeam. Just because there is a noticeable point along the edge of the mainbeam, it only constitutes a point when it's an inch or more.
