I saw a couple on a tank yesterday in Wichita County and one of my buddies said he saw a group of about 15 flyover in Clay County. I'm itching to drop some in the decoys!! Anyone else seeing any early birds yet?

check out friends of Hagerman National WIldlife refuge fb page, they post a lot of updates about what birds they are seeing on the refuge which will give you a good idea of how the migration is going in the N TX area anyways. Doesn't mean they will be anywhere else LOL they are safe on the refuge.

Went to our place last night to turn on the well for a few days. Jumped a group of about 5 off the little part holding water right now. But could not tell what they were.

I live and hunt right outside of Hagermans. Water level is very low and the number of ducks is a lot less than last year. Saw maybe 10 ducks, gadwalls and pintails. Hoping for some rain before the season opens.

I think this is going to be a warm dry winter. The guys that can pump water and flood crops will probably do pretty good. The guys that are at the mercy of the conditions are gunna struggle.

Been seeing a few on an indicator pond by my job. SE of Houston. Coastal area. Can't make out what they are. Maybe tomorrow I'll stop and glass them.

Been scouting a fair amount lately.

If cormorants were legal the party would be on. eeks333

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

saw two big groups circling a large pond in Parker county yesterday(100 ~ total). Also saw a decent group off in the distance, and another small group of red heads in Palo Pinto County on Friday while fishing. May have come in with the front last Thursday.

Saw group of 80+ green-winged teal NW of Austin about two weeks ago. Been to busy to make it out to the area recently. Unfortunately a few days after teal season ended.

Little birdie told me the prairie is loaded. Earliest ever to have that many birds.

We've got a pretty major cold front coming in this weekend into next week. Should get down into teens up here so we may have some smaller waters freeze up and send some ducks your way.

Well, the "ducks" that I saw by my work were in fact Coots. Lol. I stopped and looked through the binoculars today. They'll be here soon enough though. It's a great indicator pond.
