So I know they are both the same diameter. Typical .357 Sig is 125 gr and has a longer bearing surface ( parallel sides ) than a typical 9mm 124 grain FMJ to allow the maximum contact surface in the short neck of the .357 sig case. So it should load with similar 9mm 124 gr data but I would probably start a little lower in powder charge to make up for the increased friction of the longer bearing surface. I have no idea what COAL to use but being a fairly blunt bullet I imagine it wont have issues hitting the rifling if loaded to standard length like 1.100 COAL.

Anybody tried this? I may order some to try.

Wow no responses. I ordered 1K bullets and will see how they do when they arrive in about 7-10 days.

No experience with your caliber, however I do know it’s got a very slim charge window, and is easy to hit pressure quickly. But I have had great results with using bullets intended for other calibers especially with hard cast..
Start low and go easy working up I’m sure you’ll get it

Doesn't the bullet manufacturer publish load data? Usually a manufacture will publish 9mm data even if the bullet is intended for 357 Sig. It would help to know which specific bullet you're using.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Bullets came from Zero Bullets. Many manufacturers don't post reloading data. Yes, Speer and Nosler and others do as do the powder manufacturers. This particular bullet was "designed" for the .357 Sig which needs all the neck tension it can get to keep the bullets from getting pushed back into the case. I am guessing standard 9MM load data for a 124gr FMJ will work as a starting point, but I expect since the bearing surface on the bullet is longer I may need to drop down a little in the powder to start. The jackets may also be a little thicker due to the increase velocity, I just done know.

Interesting side, just about 2 weeks ago they had almost 70 units of 1,000 bullets. They are almost all gone which leads me to believe that customers recently discovered them and are loading them in 9mm rather than .357 Sig. That's the only way I can see 50,000 projectiles gone in just over a week. I just don't think the .357 Sig is that common.

Years ago I got some 357 Sig bullets as part of a large purchase. I don't remember the brand or even grain. I tried loading them for 9mm as I don't have a 357 Sig. I had issues with feeding in some guns which I attributed to the bullet profile. It was a while back, but I think it fed fine in a Beretta 92 but had feed issues in a Glock and Keltec.

Thanks for the responses. Yes the profile is close to a truncated cone or flat point, and obviously the 357 chamber opening is larger since its bottle necked which has to help with the feeding. I have 3 pistols that seem to be able to chamber everything including short 88 Gr hollow points, short 95 gr JSP and all the hollow points and truncated cones up to 124 grains. I never shoot the 147 grain bullets. I am thinking it should work. If not, I will have an excuse to add a .357 Sig to the family.

I never crono'ed the 88 grain HPs but I load them over a relatively fast powder and they have got to be moving even in a short barrelled carry gun.

Bullets arrived. Shown on the left is an Everglades 9mm 115 gr fmj. The one on the right was from Zero bullets and is 125 gr FPFMJ. Looks like the bearing surface is long as expected. [Linked Image]

Hope to load some up this weekend but probably wont get to shoot them for another week.

Looking at the bullet profile using data for a 124 or 125 grain hollow point might be a better option because they tend to have longer bearing surfaces.

I just scored 2000 115 JHP bullets so now I have time to play with them smile Its not a priority at this point, but I will work up a load this weekend.

confused2 tis thinking same out side diameter same up heavier bullets are longer, seated further in case...
Gun doesn't know if it's a. 357 or 9mm bullet...
.38/.357. Heavier bullet, not as fast (fps/mv)is lower... slower bullet & distance(it is pistal,, short range) it will drop faster...

Arrow dynamics....
