Old Age Ain’t For Sissies. Turned 70, and this is how my day went.
Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes! As of today, I’m officially old at 70 and things seem to start up slower, and in stages. When you stand up, you just wait a minute to make sure you’ve got your balance. Don’t want to fall and break a hip, ‘cause no EMT wants to see me in my underwear!! The heart missed a few beats but I’m on my second cup of coffee (or is it third? Memory's going too) now, and it seems to be idling OK. One eye opened, then 5 min later the other one opened and I could read all of my FB birthday wishes. One thumb locked up, so I could only reply to my texts at half-speed (that would be REALLY slow, to you kids)! Walking into the bathroom to pee, and my right knee and both ankles popped so loud it startled the dog into barking next door!!! The wife laughed, 'cause I had to brace myself, and pull twice to get the refrigerator door open. Cap on the milk jug damn near kicked my azz!!! The cereal went snap/crackle/pop and I thought it was either my ear drum failing, or my jaw coming unhinged on mushy cereal! Leaning against the wall in the shower, I was there so long I had a big red flat spot on my forehead. When I dropped the bar of soap, I just said heck with it, wasn’t worth bending over to get it, ‘cause I might not get back up. Combed my remaining hair with a wash cloth, dried off with a burlap sack (felt like) and got dressed. Had to sit down to put on pants, and when you bend over you have to choose whether to grunt or breathe. Checked the email on the computer, made sure I wasn’t in the obituaries, and said no to the extended car warranty folks on the cell phone. Why do they call it that?, it’s short for cellular but cells are really small and phones aren’t anymore. Only the buttons and letters are!! Out the door for another awesome day. Used a gallon of gas yesterday, so better re-fill that. The AARP hasn’t sent me life or car insurance quotes yet this week, so need to go to the Post Office and check on that. The expiration dates on pantry goods are only for seven more years, so I need to organize, and get them to the front of the shelf!! Getting old sucks, but it’s still better than not getting old at all. 🙂 🙂
Beer and whiskey, 'cause you can't drink bacon!!

I had to spread the OP to make it big enough to read.

Oh to be 70 again, wait til you hit 76. Congratulations and no, things don't get any easier.

Hell, I’m about to be 78. Wife asked when I’m going to grow up and act my age. I told her Not a Chance!
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
