They were loaded way before she came along. Google says their ranch is 433,000 acres. Nice, very nice.

My family is from Pawhuska. The oil crisis in 79 devastated the town. By the lat 80's, there wasn't much left. Downtown was empty. Restaurants closed, the 5 and dime closed. Walmart closed. By 2010 the only thing left was one little diner, dollar general, a sonic and a Mexican restaurant that couldn't seem to stay open. It was sad. She opened her little shop...then a restaurant...now a hotel...next thing you know, Other restaurants and shops started filling in the empty Downtown buildings. In talking to the guys that I hunt with, she's tells her customers to go to her competitors shops too. She wants everyone to thrive. IMO, she single handedly breathed life back into the town. Regardless of what anyone thinks of her, she's good people. The wife and I stayed in the motel across the street from her shop last year. Ate breakfast at her place, and the wife took a trip out to her ranch where she films. You'd have thought the wife had gone to Disneyland for grown women. They gave her a dish for coming. My wife posted a picture on FB of her with the dish on the set Pioneer Woman. That picture broke the internet. Everyone of my wifes friends went nuts. Who knew the redhead was so popular amongst the women folk?

My grandfather was born around hominy in 1911. I wish he was still around so I could ask if he remembers the swinging bridge. A lot of other reasons too, but I bet he would be amazed at what’s going on around there.

I’ve been to the restaurant in Pawhuska. It was the best meal I’d had on a 17 day vacation. Downside was a 2.5 hour wait. Gave us time to see the town, twice. Funny. I go back to Pawhuska 5 times a year. I haven’t even set foot in her place because the line is always so long. One day, I'm gonna take the time.

Here's the real pioneer woman... I was confused by this whole thread--wondering why everyone was talking about a statue and museum in Ponca City, OK (lived/worked there the 1st half of '90's). Hadnt heard of this Pioneer Woman in Pawhuska--learn something everyday here.
