Trying to locate loading data for 7mm-08AI. Not finding anything in Hodgdon data specs, anyone care to share some loads or where I can find data?

Like most AI cartridges that one will not have published data from the bi companies as it is still considered a Wildcat. You can use 7mm-08 data and work up to your max load with the rifle, brass, primer and velocity telling you where you are at. Note AI cartridges tend to not show high pressure as much as the parent cartridges and many will go over SAAMI pressures of the parent cartridge.
There are several 7mm-08AI shooters on this forum that can provide more information than I though.

Be one of these: IMR 4166, IMR 4320, IMR 4350 Use these in reloading some other calibers and load data on Hodgdon website for 7mm-08.

Pick a good temp stable powder.Go find where it shoots.
You will probably find pressure right over the best shooting charge. They like to run full of powder.
With A.I. cartridges, you are on your own. Only the loading bench and the rifle range will educate you on where your powder charge should be.

When I had Varget I was at 43.1 in Lapua brass. Just got 10lbs of IMR 4166 and have yet to load it. I plan to start at 39.

I used to have a 6AI and when trying to load for it I’d start right around maybe 1 grain less than max of a 6mm Remington. Then go up in .2 or .5 incriminates until the bolt got sticky or the primer was about to pop/ cratered, flat etc. and then write that load down as pressure, or max..
Seems like the gun would always settle in right around 10% above max book load if I remember correctly. Fun cartridges for sure!

The 6 Remington is a bit more tapered case than the 7mm-08 so you gain a bit more cas volume with it than the 7mm-08. That allows for a bit more % increase in powder with the 6AI

I’m regularly 1-2 grains higher than the standard 7-08 REM max recipes. However, I always start at max and work up. I normally fire form with recipes that are .5 grains under standard 7-08 REM max loads. They are typically plenty accurate to hunt with. Good luck, I really like it because it can help you offset a short barrel.

Not sure if they still do it but. Sierra used to have a customer service line that would help with load data. I called them many years ago about my. 338-06ai.
