I've never had a Hi-Point or a 380 but have friends who have both. I've not heard anyone with a Hi-Point speak horribly of it and thehy seem functional. I have also heard friends poo-poo them. Could be due to the price point and not based on any actual objective findings. Don't know. If it's what you can find, it is what it is.

As for .380, I've heard it called a "midget with an axe". It may be shorter than a 9mm, but do you really want to take it on?

I've also seen LOTS of studies that show within normal self defense distances (I think the FBI says 7 yards) the most common self defense calibers show no real difference in effectiveness.

Best of luck with your decision, Safe Shooting and Tight Groups!

cheers Thanks for input Slow Drifter & all that have helped out...
Have seen the high point, low price was $139.00...
Not up ta speed with the semi-auto... The looks & feel of others
liked better. Specially the trigger pull...
Just got done chatting with guy from Runnings SD..
Had seen 9mm their that liked, yet cant find here in Mn...
bang They Don't sell outa staters.. Was asking bout the 380 ammo...

He said : with demands on pistals & ammo, manufactures are behind...
Greater demand for the 9mm, ( kinda like the 12vs16gauge) shot guns...
Got a 16 1100, price if rounds went way high, so ended up buying the 12 Mossberg pump
Ammo prices payed for 12gauge..
Right now 380 ammo is cheaper, reason looking inta them...
bang From what he said : the 380 ammo is on hold, till the demand for the 9mm caught up...
& that's several months down road before they even start making 380 ammo
He said they obsolete, scratch me thinking tis, price of the 380 gonna be more expensive than 9mm
Supply & demand... Supply gets low, more demand- prices go up...

peep peeked in on the AR-pistal thread confused2 they kinda hard ta conceal & carry rofl
Me thinks the political bs tis getten outa hand...
bang just looked for a pistal ta plink with...
2cents from an ol slinger
