Fairly new to reloading and have never reloaded 300BO. Looking at loading hunting rounds out of a 10.5” barrel. Based on the components I can get, below is what I’m thinking.
Primer - Winchester small rifle Brass - Topbrass 300bo preformed Bullet - Sierra 125gr spitzer pro hunter Powder - Hodgdon H110
Loading test rounds from 17.2 to 17.8. Step up every .2 grains for testing in my rifle.
Any advice or opinions on this potential load? Any feedback is more than welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Haven't used the sierra pro hunters, but have heard that they don't expand very well at 300BLK velocities. I like SST's

I run 20.2 H110 under a Barnes 110 Tac-tx and it is SUPER accurate. Runs at a crazy consistent 2450. CCI400. But this is out of a 16" barrell.

I think that you're in the ball park. I'm at 18 grains of H110 with 130 grain Hornady's.
Me and ol' RUGER, 74 years and still shooting.

Appreciate everyone’s input. Unclebubba, Looked for SST’s in 125gr but couldn’t find any in stock.

Appreciate everyone’s input. Unclebubba, Looked for SST’s in 125gr but couldn’t find any in stock. I know, I can't find them either. I have about 250 loaded rounds with SST, but otherwise can not find them. I have thought about buying nosler BT, but I like the SST so much that I am holding out for them.

The 125 Sierra SP Pro Hunter bullet will expand VERY well at 300 BO velocities. The reason why I like any of the 125 grain options, is because you have enough velocity to still get good expansion as well as deep penetration. I've been sent many pictures of game as well as bullets recovered from pigs and deer that show this expansion. Out of a 16" AR barrel, 2250 fps is no problem, and expansion is adequate for the round. I've been loading and selling the 125 grain Sierra SP for years now, and it works very well, and is lower priced than other 125 grain options. It makes a good choice for the 300 BO.
When you get into the 150 grain weights and velocity slows down to around 1900 to 1950 fps and bullets get tougher, that's when I see little to no expansion. The 150 BT had zero expansion on pigs I shot with .308" entrance and exit holes, but pigs still went down.

I use 20 grains of H110 pushing Hornady 110 grain SP bullets. Don't have a chronograph, but published data says they *should* run around 2400 FPS out of a 16" barrel I use the Hornady bullets 'cuz they're typically less expensive, although bullet cost really isn't a big ticket item when you get right down to it Still, they work pretty well for what I'm doing. My longest shots are usually less than 150 yards. Most are less than 100 yards.

I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Be careful with that h110, it likes dense hot loads, don’t light load it..
