Anyone else catch last night's episode of Lone Star Law that showed Benny Richards checking his last fishing license? After 30+ years in law enforcement, he and his wife are going to spend time traveling across the country.

I sense Benny was one of those guys you either liked or disliked with little in between. If that's the case, he must have been very passionate about his job because that's what makes people either hate or love you for it.

I liked him from what i saw on TV. I didn't catch everything, but in the end credits i thought it said he was writing a book about his career?

I happened to catch this post on social media...

*Special Congratulatory Announcement*

As many of you have surely seen on tonight’s episode of Lone Star Law, Game Warden Benny Richards has announced his retirement.

Benny Richards served just shy of 25 years with Texas Parks and Wildlife, during which he received the Shikar-Safari International Wildlife Officer of the Year Award, was active in the Operation Game Thief program, and set an excellent example as a role model and leader in Northeast Texas communities.

We here at Northeast Texas Scanner are overjoyed for him and wish him all the best in his future endeavors! Enjoy your travels around these beautiful United States and we can’t wait to read your book!

Richards - Lone Star Law call us sometime, we can drown a few worms.

Yup, saw the episode. I've always been impressed with Mr. Benny. As Black Duck labeled him, a 'stand up guy' for sure.

All the best to you, Mr. Benny! Thank you for helping to conserve the wildlife for us to enjoy.

I missed that episode, but have seen him in many. In the last episode I saw he was in the process of starting to write a ticket for failing to fill in the back of a license for a deer kill. In conversation the guy mentioned he was new to TX. Benny asked where he was from, where he had been, etc. The guy said somewhere in the Middle East, which was a combat deployment in the Marines. Benny changed the ticket to a warning. Back in the truck he said he will always give a vet a break.

. Saw that. Hope more game wardens follow that same mold, and use the same level of discretion.

Yes, but it’s an actual real and well earned privilege. While they are at it all active, reserve and retirement military paychecks should be tax free IMO.

The kid at the beginning of that episode had a real nice mullet.
