Anyone still seeing them? Looks like the ones that have been hitting my feeders all summer have headed south!

All of ours locals have left but we do see about 1 per day and they are only hitting our flowers. None hitting the feeder.

Far fewer, both at the ranch and home, but a few stragglers and she's kept the feeders full, bless her.

We had LOTS a few days ago. They’ve vacated the area.

Same here Mike, only see a few during the day when I’m home. Nothing like it was a few weeks ago. Have seen several flocks of geese heading south. The hummers hitch a ride on the backs of geese flying south.

Far as I can tell, I’ve got just one hanging around. I don’t know if it’s migration or that I just put feeders back up, or maybe both. I’m not sure about our area, but I would think we’d have some winter here.

We have had them nest here in the spring. I’d like to see them have better long term success with it, though. Seeing brand new hummingbird chicks would rank pretty high on my list of things I’d like to see but haven’t yet.

I see at least 3 or 4 still hanging around. We have a few that stay here all winter sometimes.

I figgered you’d like that, Bill. Hummingbirds are a favorite of mine.

A friend of mine is the curator of birds at a fairly well-known zoo, and he will occasionally make trips to this area (with the proper permits) to collect hummingbirds for that particular establishment, as well as others. Several weeks ago he made such a trip, and it reminded me just how much I had neglected one of my most treasured natural things. I promptly went about hanging feeders.

I had a dozen two weeks ago and it seems they disappeared. I saw one yesterday so I cleaned and refilled the feeders.

How do I keep bees away from the feeders?
