Easy quick no huge mess My go to quick meals are Spaghetti Brown up a few pounds of hamburger, add it to a jarred sauce with onions, mushrooms, peppers, and some herbs if that's your thing. Make up enough pasta, serve it either mixed or separate. Takes about a half hour, stores easy, tastes good the next day, and if you clean while you cook, its pretty clean. Really only takes two pans. Steak, baked potatoes, and either a salad or microwaved steamed vegetables. The potatoes can take a bit longer, I've had decent luck microwaving them. Its a bit quicker. Crockpot roast Put a roast, some potatoes, onions, carrots, etc, and then half cover the roast in beef broth. Put it on at lunch and it should be ready by the end of an evening hunt. I like to sear my roast first too, but I've had it both ways. These are all pretty much my "I dont feel like cooking" meals. Best part is that they can all be made with wild game. The roast might need some fat in it to keep it moist if you use deer... I put a few slices in mine and stick little 1/4 inch cubes of butter inside.

Gumbo - pre-cook and freeze in Ziploc bags. When you are ready to cook at camp, just throw in a pot and let simmer. cook up a bunch of rice, throw out some crackers, and pre-made tater salad. Easy easy!
To pre-cook, bring a pot of water to boil then "melt" in roux to taste. Cut green onions and celery into small chunks and throw into the boiling water/roux base, then add your proteins of choice - I like Cajun sausage, chicken, and shrimp. Add a healthy dose of Tony Chachere's and let simmer 'til all meat fully cooked. Once cooled, pour into gallon Ziplocs for freezing. Whenever anyone in my family makes gumbo, we always make extra to freeze for later, and the longer it sits, the better it tastes!

The most overlooked thing in the world is center cut bone in ham steaks. They are already cooked.

do you want to pre-cook and freeze, then just reheat .... or from scratch meals?
pre-cooked the ideas are almost endless ...
easy to make on the spot: spaghetti is pretty simple, can of green beans and garlic toast steak and Idahodian instant mashed potatoes sausage wrapped in tortilla with chips/salsa hamburgers, french fries or tater tots (oven for 25 minutes), can of Bushes baked beans cowboy cornbread (pre-cook the ground meat even)
take a bag of mixed salad greens and a few tomatoes for salads every evening, big bottle of your favorite dressing

Pre cook a pot of chili, and bring a slow cooker. And bring sandwich fixings.

I make meals ahead of time, vacuum seal and freeze them. Reheat in a pot of booking water. No clean up and ready in a couple of minutes. Ones that work well:
Lasagna Spaghetti and meatballs Meatloaf and mashed potatoes Mac and cheese w ham Chili mac Enchiladas Shepherd's pie Baked ziti

Cool. That was my guess, never seen them grilled, but I've had them a few times at fancy french places. You just throw em on the grill and then top with some butter?

A lot of folks boil them first then grill them (I used to as well), but you don’t have to do that. I just take them out of the bag & rinse them, season them, and put them on the pit on indirect heat until they shrink up. Once they shrink/firm up I take them off and slice them in half with tonges & a filet knife, season the fresh sides, then put them in a pan fresh side up with butter still on indirect heat until they have good color and get tender simmering in the butter. Then I take them out of the pan and crisp them up on the hot side of the grill. They turn out tender but crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside. Serve them on corn tortillas with white onion, cilantro, lime, & fresh salsa. I do enjoy eating them. They are pretty forgiving as far as overcooking them. Also you don’t have to peel them when doing them like this.

Breakfast, quick stuff in the microwave, and snack on Cheerios. Lunch, sandwich stuff, unless a cold front come through, then a crockpot of beans with cornbread from the grocery store. First night, Lowake Steakhouse, second night, Los Carlos or Beefmasters. third night Alejandros, or a trip to San Angelo.
We also always keep a supply TV dinner/meals in the freezer, and a supply of Sklenarik's sausage to grill "hot dogs" on a slice of bread.

1. I like to take skirt steak and put it in a vacuum sealed bag with 1 part olive oil, soy sauce, and worcestershire. Vacuum seal and let it marinate until your ready to break out season it up and make fajitas. Tortillas, make some pico, and bring cheese. 2. Chili. Can't go wrong. Easy to store. Easy to heat up. 3. I also like to smoke a brisket or pork shoulder and make sandwiches with the leftovers.
I'm a big fan on reducing the amount of dishes and cleaning I have to do when I go out hunting. Fajitas on the grill don't require much. Put a serving size of chili in some tupperware, heat it up in the microwave and eat out of that.
