It appears that Ruger is the high bidder for the Marlin Firearms line that Remington is being forced to shed during their bankruptcy.
Ruger's main gift has always been the ability to make good guns inexpensively. I wonder how that is going to carry over into the Marlin product line that we know today.

I sure hope that the deal goes down, because I think that Ruger will make Marlin stronger and overall better than Remington has. The Green Machine has been in decline for years, and the constant churn of top level management has made it worse. They appear to be making critical decisions based on the next quarter's earnings rather than taking the long view and focusing on satisfying the needs of their customer base. It's been painful to watch. I wish Ruger, Marlin, and even whatever's left of Remington the very best.

That would be a good addition for Ruger since they don't have lever action rifles in their line up.

. . . .the constant churn of top level management has made it worse. They appear to be making critical decisions based on the next quarter's earnings rather than taking the long view and focusing on satisfying the needs of their customer base. It's been painful to watch. Unfortunately, that's been happening in all US industries for quite some years now. You have top level executives in critical positions that make life and death decisions for a company that they don't know the first thing about. They have those business management degrees though. . .

It's my understanding Ruger is wholly owned and not part of a large holding company. That makes it an even better move IMHO.

Ruger does good work. Hopefully they can restore Marlin's luster before the Remington take over.

Hopefully Marlin will end up much like Harley Davidson did once they got out from under AMF and begin turning out a much higher quality product.

Does this mean that the REP stamped Marlins are going to be collector's items now? Seriously, I like Ruger. I own multiple Rugers. If anyone can bring back the Marlin line, Ruger can.

That's good news. I own a couple of Ruger's and a Marlin. Haven't had a Remmy since I sold my 870 many, many years ago.

Look for a lot of ugly laminated stocks in the Ruger-produced Marlins.

Seems like a win win to me with Ruger buying Marlin. Hopefully it will be the same with Sierra acquiring Barnes

Best thing that could happen to Marlin! I bet Ruger will build a better Marlin and still sell it cheaper than the crap Remington was shipping out.

Look for a lot of ugly laminated stocks in the Ruger-produced Marlins. Ruger can put out some very nice walnut stocks on Blued metal. Just look at some of the Ruger no.1 rifles. Hopefully, that trend continues.

Hopefully, that trend continues. I could go for a stainless 336 in .30-30 in a Zytel stock. 'Gotta stainless .280 bolt in one and absolutely love the old thing. ('Also gotta Ruger #1 in 7X57 on a Mannlicher stock with real purty wood.)

I hope this happens because it would be outstanding for Marlin, just outstanding. Ruger can make the name great again. It's so sad what happened to Remington, I grew up hunting with almost nothing but Remington firearms.

We just have to wait for the new firearms.
