So has the COVID situation made you make any adjustments to your normal hunting-related routines? Anyone already made or expect to make any changes in their normal camp rules? I know camp houses can get rather warm and stuffy once you get a lot of guys in them and turn the heater up.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not trying to start a big debate over masks. However, I can easily see some guys who don't already have them, wanting to invest in their own sleeping quarters this season. I could also see folks who normally ride together on the long drive to the lease deciding to ride separately this year.

On our annual dove hunt last weekend travelers roomed together and we didn't crowd up in the ranch house ate outside.

It wasn't a "normal routine", but me and a buddy on here had a Newfoundland Moose hunt for next month cancelled. It sucks big-time. I'm right in the middle when it comes to the "debate", but, I think hunters in general are gonna be on the less paranoid end of the spectrum. I will say this, since everyone has been so sanitary to the point of almost being sterile (in general, not sexually ), the next few years folks are gonna get a lot more colds and flu and other things at deer camp because they haven't built up any antibodies.

We are going to wear masks and gloves while we’re sitting around the fire drinking whiskey.

I have been fairly cautious so far, haven't been on a plane since March, try to consolidate trips to the grocery store, sent all of my non-essential staff home, etc. This fall, I drew mule deer in New Mexico and a limited quota elk in Idaho. I will self quarantine with a buddy in New Mexico for the duration of that hunt. For Idaho, a buddy from Georgia is going to fly over and we will drive up together to share camp with 2 other guys. I am not wearing a mask for a 20 hour drive or bringing separate tents for everyone. I try to minimize unnecessary risk with this, but hunting season is a necessary risk

Nope. Hunting takes me away from people and since avoiding people is a big part of Covid-19, hunting is perfect. I will say this, since everyone has been so sanitary to the point of almost being sterile (in general, not sexually ), the next few years folks are gonna get a lot more colds and flu and other things at deer camp because they haven't built up any antibodies. I will say this, with just a few exceptions, I don't know that people are really being that much safer. Every person you come in contact with is about like indirectly coming in contact with 12-48 people, hence the whole contact tracing program. We may have slowed colds and flus, but certainly not stopped them. Scared the hell out of us when my 86 year old mother got sick while in "isolation." Turned out, it WAS the flu. Fortunately, there are vaccines and things like Tamiflu for flu. What I mean to say is that it seems like most everybody cheats, doesn't mask when they need to, doesn't wash enough, are still getting together with loved ones and often with work mates and their families, hugging friends and loved ones at church, etc. Math-wise, people aren't going to be getting more colds in the next year or so. There just may be more people getting colds at the same time. You don't build up antibodies without getting it. So they may get some of the colds they missed out on during isolation, but aren't going to get more colds.

As a deer lease hunter only, I dont foresee any changes whatsoever.

If I see a deer without a mask this year, it's dead.
On a serious note, I got drawn for one of the TPWD Drawn Hunts, and I'm interested to see how they deal with the whole situation. From what I understand, you just have to wear a mask in the park HQ/indoors.

Yeah, its had some impact on my hunting routines. I have to wear a mask in the store to buy corn, or memory cards for Cell Cams etc.
Thanks, Billy

Covid won't affect my hunting routine at all. My whole family (myself, wife, 6 & 3 year old) had Covid 6 weeks ago. I know it affects everyone differently but for us it was like the 3 day flu.

Other than wearing mask to purchase items don’t see much of a change. All leasemates have their own trailers and I don’t foresee us not sitting down for meals around the campfire. We normally don’t crowd one another anyway.

We'll be cooking more in camp instead of taking Pop's to his favorite restaurant in town.

went on a dove hunt last week and rented a house for 6 of us. We just kept our congregating to the outdoor areas around the fire pit and ate meals on the screened porch instead of inside. Thinking about it, pretty much what we would have done anyway.
