I'm a real fan of the candied apples you get at Cracker Barrel, and love to have them in the morning. We had too many apples just sitting there on the counter, so I put them to good use. Breakfast today wasn't anything special, just a ham&cheese omelet and Grands biscuits, but I thought I did an OK job on the fruit. Lots of cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and butter. You could make fried pies with. Them after e they have been stewed.

We often have this combined with pork breakfast sausage links as a quick and easy dinner. Brown the sausage, remove from pan & cook the apples then add the sausage back to pan with the apples. Have also done this with li'l smokies.

Great with a spicy breakfast sausage....also fantastic with fried pork chops...

My great aunt used to make apples like that....miss her and the apples.
