Considering a Springfield Armory 1911 in .45, I’ve always shot revolvers. How’s the recoil and accuracy ?

Recoil not bad. Accuracy good.

Springfield makes a a great 1911. The 1911 design handles recoil extremely well, and accuracy on a mid or upper end springfield will be excellent. Don't buy the mil-spec version and expect to be wearing out the 10-ring...

Patriots is right. Springfield has wide range of 1911s and I’ve owned most all except their top of the lineTRP. They’re all good for their price range, but if it was my first 1911 and I was going to only have one to start with it would be the Ruger SR1911 full size. I still own an SR as others have came and went.

I have a Kimber and a Springfield. Like them both. The Kimber has an adjustable rear site. Like that a lot.

Springfield Armory has a lifetime warranty and their customer service has always been timely and excellent. Excellent pistol for the price!

Guns do not kick, they recoil. Trained shooters manage the recoil (not the other way around) no matter what caliber the gun is. 1911 has been around 100 + years, platform is solid. SA makes great 1911 pistols.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I have one, Springfield 1911. like it a lot. One of my favorite handguns. I like revolvers but on a semi-auto, 1911 every time. The "slab" grips just seem to let you point better. "User friendly". I have some 15 round semi autos but if you hit the target better with a 1911, then "only hits count".

Springfield Range officer good adjustable sights and accurate they also make it in 9mm. 230 ball ammo is not bad on recoil I shoot mostly 185 grain in mine and they are a lil less in recoil.

I used to own a SA Operator half rail with Pachmayr Grips. Ended up trading it, should've held onto it. It was amazing to shoot, didn't feel much recoil but she had some weight.

I've owned a number of 1911 variants over the years, and must admit to not having been their biggest fan. That said, there's a big difference between the very rough entry level models and the higher end pieces. It's always easy to enjoy nice things, if somewhat harder to pay for them. I currently own a Dan Wesson Valkyrie 9mm, and an Ed Brown .45, and think very highly of them both. The Dan Wesson is really a nice pistol, until you pick up the Ed Brown ...
