I would hope one could trust their wife to go out with her friends. If not, you have much bigger problems

I have no comment. All the counselors have spoken and their fee is way to high. They don't have the problem you have and don't care about your problem. Be the man that you are.

What is her love language? Do guys ask this a lot in the Yukon? Another boyhood image shattered.

On a more serious note. Get a baby sitter and take her out. That's what I always did.

If I gave my hubby the silent treatment, he'd send me a thank you card. Best of luck Zach! Damn I love you Janie.

It’s nothing so bad as showing the neighbor lady my Mini Zach... she’s about 70, it would be a toss up if she’d keel over or decide to risk the prison time.
It’s more of, I’ve been working a lot to get some things done and she’s been stuck with the kids for an extended amount of time with no adult interaction.
I just wanted to spring for something nice for her, as she deserves it. I think the silent treatment has been more of her being wore out from chasing crib midgets and needs to decompress when I get home.
Bill.... you started semi strong, but tapered off at the end. Im sure she would appreciate a nice gift but it sounds like what she really wants is a little grown up time. Get the kids set up to stay the night somewhere (grandparents) and take her out to a nice dinner. No movie (she’ll want to be able talk) Then maybe take her shopping and get her something nice. If you play your cards right it could be a nice evening for you both Thank me later

I knew a rancher out in brownfield, bought his wife a nice .243, ( she did not hunt or shoot ) She didn’t say much , but soon he found a big box with his name on it. Turns out to be a mink coat, just her size.

The is a tongue-in-cheek well articulated thread and most of the replies were the same.

I don't think buying gifts is going to solve anything. It just shows you're oblivious to the true problem and are trying to buy her affection.
If you don't know why she's silent - ask. Listen - don't argue. Women aren't direct like men (for the most part) so you need to hear what she's saying.
Simple easy to fix problems usually turn into VERY big problems when people fail to communicate and understand each other. Been there done that.
I will say - I don't have kids, but I'm sure that its a major added stress point in a marriage. Take that date night - and instead of the end goal being sex like has been suggested - make it a conversation. You can still be a macho tough guy and truly make your wife feel like she's important and noticed. Women (sorry Janie) are emotional creatures and if you want a harmonious marriage you need to understand your wife's emotions - to an extent. The key to a happy (lots of sex) marriage - is to figure out how to be a man's man, but still understand and appeal to your wife's emotional side. All boils down to communication and understanding.
That's Cochise's love advice for the year. Take it for what it's worth. I used to be the live my life, buy her gifts, 100% only a tough guy type. Marriage has been 1,000,000 times better with a little communication and understanding.

I tend to agree with several others on showing her attention and open communication ... buying gifts is not the right path in my opinion, she is starving for YOUR attention and needs a break from her day in/day out routine with the kids. Is what you are working on outside your marriage as important as those inside your marriage? Make a concerted effort to communicate and take some things off her plate.
I still remember what my dad told me the day I got married over 42 years ago ... he said "Marriage is not 50/50, it's 100/100 with sometimes you giving 100% and sometimes receiving 100%" ... sounds like it's time for you to focus on giving your side of the 100% for a while.

Pretty sure i just went through this with my wife. She has been working from home since march. We have a 2 year old and a 5 year old that recently started online school. For march/april i was home working also but ive been back since mid april experiencing what you have. We had a good old fashioned argument where she told me she does so much. I listened then told her what all i do on a daily... and its a lot and she knows that. I tell her thank you and make her a drink when i get home and scream at the kids myself all hunky dorry. Oldest went back to in person school last week and youngest to daycare. She cried because she misses them.... proof you can not please women.

One granddaughter is going back Monday to in-person Kindergarten, but her older brother can't go back to 3rd grade yet. Same school (Northside, San Antonio). Is there ANY scientific basis to this?
