Has anyone hunted this area before? Any advice on this hunt? I emailed TPWD about when you can scout.

North side has better hunting in my opinion, the big lake on the right as you enter the wma buts up to some private property on the north side with some wma land between the lake and the private property, make a great punch point for deer going around the corner of the lake. Have seen some great bucks there on doe hunts. Look at Google earth and find the natural funnels.

I drew a bow hunt there few yrs back. Cant remember the unit number but I had scouted the area that joins the Forbidden Zone and that's where I hunted way back. They let me use my 4-wheeler. Did not kill. The forbidden zone hold some book deer.

Thanks. I’m going to try to scout this week. Do either of you know if it’s open for scouting now?

I am drawn there as well. I have hunted there several times, but been a few years. Scouting will be tough bucause you won't know which section you get to hunt. Plenty of good deer if you can geton them.
Dozer, mulched, and trackhoe work. Fencelines, senderos, tanks. Let me know if I can help with any dirtwork or construction.

That private land on the north east end of the north unit was in the process of getting sold to the WMA unless that deal fell through...

Has anyone hunted this area before? Any advice on this hunt? I emailed TPWD about when you can scout. Just call the WMA. Should be a number listed in the email.

I called, going to scout out tomorrow even if I don’t get to scout where I’ll hunt exactly I’ll get a good idea of what I’m walking in too

Yes that lake, on the south unit the best hunting is around the camp area for doe. Last but not least be careful around the water the place does have a few gaters!

It’s pretty flooded right now found a lot of trails and saw a lot of hogs and deer so hoping it will be a good hunt.
