A lot of taxidermists will thank you to start at the rear of the ribcage, give them a little more to work with.

Ive only done one, but my taxadermist was happy.
I started behind the last rib and skinned all the way down with no cuts to the knee joint on the front legs popped the joint and continued down to the joint that holds the skull to the neck and popped that joint. Sent taxi feet and all with no cuts in hide for him to do what he wanted with it.
It's hell eatin em live

I cut at that location for a mount my first time. Taxidermist said it wasn’t enough and he had to get a different cape. I’ll go to the back of the rib cage now. Thanks for the post!
