I am looking to buy a new release and could use some input if you would. What are some of y'alls favorites? I have been using the release pictured for the last 5 years and am wanting to try something different. My main objective is to not have a release strapped to my wrist while hunting so I can have more freedom to use both hands. Hard to rattle, use a grunt call or binocs while using the kind I currently am. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks, I will check it out. I think I am wanting to go with a thumb release type over a back tension or resistance activated design. Just seems an easier transition. I guess I should probably head to West Houston Atchery and try a few out.
I like Winn Archery's Free Flight. I have used one for 15+ years. It is adjustable, small and durable. It does not pull on your wrist, and actually makes it easier to draw. Its very comfortable and doesn't get in the way. You can choose a loop or a jaw opening (I like the loop). It comes in 5 sizes and then each is adjustable so no "one size fits all" compromise. You can literally pull more DW because of the design, not that I need that using 50#, but it makes it so easy and smooth I can keep a pin on the target and draw right on it. You can get spare parts and great customer service, Made in USA. They are around $80 brand new. Mine is original and still works flawlessly and I got it in 2005.
I just picked up the Carter Wise Choice 3 finger thumb release. I have been shooting a similar wrist release as you for the past two years. The Carter is really nice and come highly recommended. If local to DFW, I would head over to Cinnamon Creek and try several different ones out.
