After 3-4 years of putting my Daughters name in the hat, she finally won one. She got the Jan 2 either sex hunt at Powderhorn, anyone know anything about this place? The website says there was an 80% success rate last year (whatever that means) and mentions Axis and Sambar deer (she has never shot either of those).

Congrats to you both. I believe you are both setup to harvest something. Powderhorn is a more highly coveted hunt for sure.

You should see Whitetails and Sambar, I never saw an axis. Try and drop whatever you shoot in it’s tracks the brush is thick and there is lots of water there.

Just sent you a PM with some info. My 11 year old did that hunt last January. It was a blast! ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-66478-251235-20200104_185959.jpg)

My bud took his granddaughter to Powderhorn last year.....she shot a BIG sambar and a 10pt buck. Said it was an absolutely awesome hunt He said staff went out of their way to accommodate everyone. He did say he would never ever clean a sambar again. Lol

Powderhorn is a awesome place. I go there for work sometimes and I have seen some MASSIVE Sambar.
I hope to draw out there one day!
