It would be awesome to have a huge full body mount of the apex predator of Texas. I also think they are such magnificent animals that it would be a tough decision.
Having said that it all depends on the situation. If I was on the small place I hunted in Jacksboro that has a lot of smaller acreage then yes I would because of concern that it would eat the neighbors livestock, pets and pose a possible threat to their kiddos. If I was in an area that had lots of deer and hogs and minimal threat to livestock then probably not unless it was a true trophy.

I couldn't get my rifle up fast enough to get a round off at one. I've shot several bobcats, and did a full body mount on my last one. I don't plan to shoot another bobcat now, I'd let them walk. Mt lion,

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Ive never seen one if the wild but would love to bag one. Same goes for a Leopard and African Lion. I'm really hoping to do a Leopard hunt in Africa in 2022. I dont know that I'll ever get to a point, at the rate my wife goes through cash, to afford an African Lion hunt, lol.

I'd shoot one in a heartbeat. You'll never kill enough of them for it to even matter in the scheme of things, just like coyotes and rattlesnakes. I kill every one I see no matter what.

I've seen one in 59 years. Sitting on a wheat field in McCulluch county on 377 1 mile south of the geographic center of Texas, where the elevated deer stand picnic area is located. It was a beautiful thing to see. They're around here too. Have neighbors that have seen them. Oh yeah, I'm shooting if I see another one.

My gate is just 6 or 7 miles north and a bit west of the Center of Texas roadside park. One was hit on a county road a few miles west of me a year or so ago, and one showed on camera in far south Mills County last year. - maybe 10 miles east of me. I would love to see one, just not in the dark while walking to the blind!

Saw one 45 years ago, coon hunting as a kid. Saw another one about two years ago, while hog hunting at night. I watched it for probably 30 seconds before it slipped into the brush...I had no desire to shoot.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

When I was younger, my answer would have been yes without a doubt. Now I'm not sure. I guess I would have to make that decision if I saw one. In all my years hunting and fishing I've never seen one. We did find evidence of one on a lease in Callahan Co. years ago. One guy on that lease said he saw one, but he was not the most credible witness in the world.

We are not allowed to shoot them on our lease. Ranch makes the rules and we follow them.

I don't shoot them, I grab them by the scruff of the neck & dunk them in a wash tub full of black die.
Then take pictures to send to BMD and a few other friends.

Last year a Mountain lion got real cozy with us. We never saw it but it came right into camp, one time it stood up and left a paw print on the drivers side window of one of our trucks. It also covered up the guts of two of the deer we shot and carried off the skeletons. I would shoot one on sight, they easily kill deer and do so regularly. My buddy hated our friendly lion, especially when he was walking to his stand in the dark.

Why would you wanna shoot one ? we are taking lot of the animals habitat away from them Outside the predation issues that occur in heavy ML density areas and how they have greatly hindered restocking efforts of Big Horn sheep, Mule deer and even elk in some areas.....Have you eaten one? Pretty good meat. All this assuming you are a meat eater?

There are far more people that present a danger to humans than mountain lions that do so.
I see no reason to bother the cats unless they bother me, which has not happened yet despite being in proximity to them doing bird surveys.

Most lions I had been around where tree’d or didn’t know I was there and I never thought twice about it. This on came in to my elk call, and we had a pretty tense 10+- yard moment. I’m glad it decided to walk off, season wasn’t open and it would of went to waste.
