Been gone for years, is this the anniversary of the helicopter crash that took him?
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Been gone for years, is this the anniversary of the helicopter crash that took him? yes. Had a good buddy saw that last concert. Best live show I've ever seen.

'Saw him live at the Majestic here in San Antonio. He was very moving talking about his battle with addiction and urging kids not to go down that path.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

That man had an insane amount of talent. Can't imagine the music the world has missed out on since he passed.

Yep I shed a tear when he passed. He was awesome. I watched him grow into a super star. Used to listen to him at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos for nothing...back in the original days of Kent Finlay and SWT...great memories

Saw him at The Crossroads in Nac during college. 3 ft from the stage and he was amazing. He would play for 3 hours, no opener. RIP Stevie.

I'm too young to have caught him live, but I got to see his brother play a private gig for Billy Gibbons down in Austin several years ago. That was a real treat.

I married into a family that is related to SRV. My wife's grandmother was a cousin of SRV's grandmother. That family was close so they grew up like sisters. I met his mom Martha Jean before she passed and have met Jimmy a couple times. Was a pallbearer with Jimmy at another family member's funeral. My dad introduced me to his music long before I met my wife and he was "tickled pink" when he found out about the connection. My kids (7 & 9) can tell when one of his songs comes on just by the sound of the guitar.

While in college, we rarely had big acts come through Stillwater, but SRV played at Gallagher Hall in the spring of 85. My roommate and I got tickets and it was a fantastic show. I remember wondering how someone could make a simple guitar make so many different sounds just by bending the strings. This was before the remodel of the old fieldhouse, so no AC and dismal acoustics, but still one of the best shows ever. As memory serves, the concert was well attended, but nowhere near full, so we were able to get down close to the stage, even though we paid for cheap seats.
When he died, I was just leaving the post office when it was announced on the rock station I listened to at the time. I remember they originally broadcast that both he and Eric Clapton had been in the helicopter, but corrected later.
