Inherited this SG a while back and having a tough time figuring out the choke on it. After looking online, I think it may be a modified . Not sure if anyone has any knowledge about these but I’m guessing it was bought in the 70s and maybe fired 20 times

Take it out and shoot a round of skeet or sporting clays. It may be a keeper.

Pre ‘screw in’s’ manufacturers gave us the option of chokes in different barrels, modified was, by far, the most popular. It was normally stamped on the barrel near where it meets the receiver.

I agree it is probably stamped on the barrel somewhere. Assuming 12 gauge, if a dime won't fit down it, it is full.

Also if you have a set of calipers and google you can find out real quick

I’ve checked al over the thing and it doesn’t say anything, I’ve done some research online and it says it may be modified or full depending on the barrel length? Has anyone heard of something like that?

If modified or full are the only options then you can tell with a dime, assuming 12 guage

I think I just figured it out with a dime, according to google. If it barely fits in, it’s a modified right?

More than likely, the only thing i can promise is that unless the barrel has been squished or something a dime will NOT fit in a full
