I used to hunt with two dove outfitters over the years. One was George Green, and the other was M & S. Are they still around or has age caught up with them. Green leased two big fields in Woodson, and has someone taken over these fields plus other sites as well? Both George and M & S had multiple fields, is someone else managing these fields now? Thanks, Jim

I think M&S is still around.
BTW, the dove hunting in Woodson has been terrible for the past two or three years. Hoping for a great year!

BTW, the dove hunting in Woodson has been terrible for the past two or three years. Hoping for a great year! I disagree with this. I limited out two days in a row on opening day and the next last year. The cooler weather rain was awesome and the birds were flying The year prior, before that as well.

Sounds like you've got a great place. Everyone around us had the same results we had.

“Terrible for the past two or three years”
No sir! Folks Dove hunting around Woodson get and got spoiled 3 and 4 years ago and before. Great bird country. Great feed. Just great country in general. Now everyone expects birds everywhere, all the time.
Hatch was down last year. Looks to me to be down again this year. Birds are around, but not like 3 - 4 years ago and before, for the opener. Hence the term Migratory.
Keep spreading the word that dove hunting Woodson Is “terrible”. It keeps the traffic down on my road.

The best dove hunt I ever had was outside of Woodson. Jerry Woods put us on 'em. May he rest in peace. Giant sunflower fields across the road. At day break, it was a battle field over there. NOTHING flying our way. Then, about 9 a.m. they got thirsty and we had the tank on our side. It was bloody.

Although specific fields can be great anytime the overall dove hunting from Throckmortan to Breckenridge has been down the last 2 years. Earlier this summer I ran out to Seymour to fill my feeders and drove down to my dove lease south of Throck. I drove on to Breckenridge to go home. The sunflowers were looking the best about halfway between Woodson and Breckenridge. They were taller, greener. It clearly showed where the best rain line was. We will kill limits opening day and maybe opening weekend but I'm worried dove hunting this year will be like the last 2.....down.

Now its all wheat and no sunflowers. I'm close to there and used to have a lot more birds when he had his dove hunting operation going.

I have a lease in Woodson and was there from last Monday until today. Probably saw 30 birds all week. I didn’t even break out the shotgun.

We are on one of George's leases near Murray. Tuesday we had quite a few young morning doves...but lots of rain. They have moved out by this weekend. Yesterday afternoon was pretty sad.
I'll try after the cool front comes through.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

I'm pretty late to the party. I hunted one of the Murray fields for the opener. A few guys in our group got limits the first morning. It was decent, but definitely down from last year. Rain pretty much ruined the rest of the day. The next morning was slow, but I managed to get a limit that afternoon. A buddy of mine hunted Sunday AM and only shot 1. The sunflower/wheat crop wasn't as good this year, and it showed with fewer birds. At least it dried up enough for us to get out without issue on the 3rd.

Had a great limit hunt in about 2 hours over sunflowers in Murray last night. Rained out this morning and man did it rain a lot. Started at 5 and still going strong when I left Breck at 9am.
