10,000 acres in West Texas. 10,000 acres in South Texas.  West Texas is pretty though. I only hunted there for one year, and was mainly for quail. Only deer I saw hunting there was over 500 yrds away. Looked like a big buck. I caught a lot of crap over not taking the shot, but that range was way out of my comfort zone. I’m used to shots less than 250. I hunted hard to finally see a deer, and then passed on the shot. I got ribbed, but whatever. 500 yrds is a long way when your heart is beating chasing a deer & shooting off sticks. Never trained for that, wasn’t prepared for it. I like to get closer. Was a lot of fun though. Make that about 50,000 acres or better yet 100,000 in the Davis mountains. 10,000 isn't much out there. I compare a 5,000 acre ranch in the hill country to 50,000 in west Texas.

Since passing on that 500+ yard deer, have you taken a class and/or range time to learn how to make a 500+ yard shot? I want at least 100 acres that has free roaming axis, is not in a "subdivision", and is remote with enough elevation change that I can shoot long range and not have to push up a berm. Always wanted a house on the lake where I could walk out my back door and sit on the dock fishing. Also, s 5000 acre ranch where I could hide out from the world. Not much chance of owning either unless I hit the lottery.
