I mentioned this topic in another thread but thought it might be useful to start a new thread to focus some discussion on it here if needed.

You might be asked for your email address when you purchase your new license. I know that's a sensitive subject for some of you but there does appear to be some excellent benefits in having it on file with the TPWD. As I've mentioned several times in earlier threads, there is no printed Outdoor Annual this year, which means if you need to check a rule or regulation you'll need to check the online version. The TPWD has created an app that makes accessing and using the online version much easier. Once downloaded, the app can show regulations even when you don't have cell service. More unique app features include access to location-based info on hunting seasons and nearby waterbodies, as well as the ability to look up current and past license purchases.

While the app states it might take up to 48 hours for your new license information to appear in the app, I noticed my new license info was available almost immediately after purchasing it.

Of course I could be wrong, but I can see a season ahead where some folks will be constantly bugging others to look up information they could easily find for themselves if they just took the time to use the app. Please, don't be "that guy".

I downloaded the app last year and I like it. The other benefit is that they can update it with any last minute regulatory changes unlike the printed version.

I love using it. Have my, wife, son, daughter and stepsons licenses all linked in my app. It's nice to just bring my phone on the boat when the wife and I fish or when we bird hunt.

Got licensed to hunt and fish. Got the super combo deal.

It was nice last year using the TPWD app for checking in and out on some of the WMAs instead of having to fill out a card. Not to mention using the online WMA maps through the app. I don't know why they still require the paper check in on some of the other WMAs when they have the app available now. A change I found this year was the ability to get my lifetime license tags through the online license vendor now. Before there was no online option for us lifetime license holders.
