For the bolt gun in 223 I’ve been using H335. For an AR, is the H335 burn rate acceptable? I hope so. I have plenty. The bullet, if that matters, will be 65 gr GK and 60 gr Partition for now.

H335 would be ideal.

Yup, I use H335 in my 5.56 ARs and bolt guns. Meters well and is pretty consistent for me.

TAC with 64g SGK works with AR

In no particular order:

Blc2
Imr 4064
Varget
Imr3031
H335

All have done well for me.

I have them all, but will hope the H335 is the one. I don’t want it to be Varget, since I don’t have much.

Besides, the muzzle flash with H335 is spectacular.

Last time I counted there were over 30 powders that worked for 223 so shouldn’t be too hard to find a good one.
H335 has been a staple for years and normally gives high velocity and accuracy but don’t push it too hard as once the temps get high it can blow primers.

Been sighting in the rifle. Used the loads setup for the bolt gun. I did the first rounds with 55 gr BTs. The rifle didn’t like that load much. Went to 60 gr Partitions, and I could hunt with those, but accuracy wasn’t great. Went to the 65 gr GKs and it seemed that this bolt gun load might work just fine. Then the barrel got hot and accuracy deteriorated. Now cooling er down.

Next week I’ll load specifically for the new rifle. I’ll check on the projectiles I have, and depending on that, I’ll use either the Partitions or GKs, or I’ll order a bunch of 64 gr Nosler BSB. Based on Chad’s info, that Nosler BSB might be what I ultimately want. Exits on Pigs are desired.

I’m going out to the workshop to do some loading in a few minutes. I think I’ll try A2230 and BL-C(2).
